Advantages: Stunnig, exciting with plenty to do Disadvantages: Not recommended if you don't like cold/rain
...'t get chance to take advantage of, especially since the rugby was on, but free soup at 6pm was a nice touch as everyone gathered in the kitchen.
To experience the worlds' steepest and fastest flowing commercially guided glacier' we chose Franz Josef Glacier Guides, who are hugely professional. When chosing a tour I would definately pay the extra for a full day's hike. On a half day hike you have very restricted time of the glacier and believe me once you're up there you'll want to stay all day. Half day hikes are $80 while full day hikes are $135 although as we discovered discounts are available for those with Kiwi Experience tickets - even if you are not on the Kiwi bus anymore!
The Glacier Guides will provide you wih all the equipment you need, from crampons and ice axes to waterproofs - something you might need on the west coast...

Advantages: Breathtaking Scenery & Value for Money Disadvantages: Having to come back down
...The first day we arrived in at the glacier we were met by low cloud and heavy snow, which meant we could not go on the heli-hike, but the next day it was a lot better weather and we set up in the helicopter.
Thoroughly recommend this experience, we were flown up and around the glacier before landing on the glacier itself and then being guided around through ice caves and along snow ridges.
The trip was excellent value for money and all equipment that we required was supplied at no extra charge....

Advantages: something for every body, fantastic views Disadvantages: weather dependent
...of the opportunity and took lots of photograhs before it was time to go into the cafe and warm up a little!
The hot chocolate and chocolate cake were just the right thing to fill me up and keep my energy up -it's quite a strange feeling to be so high up, and to stop me from getting dizzy I needed a bite to eat.
Then, it was time for our descent, this was the best part of the day, as half way down , we were able to get out of the cable car and watch people sun bathing in the snow!
As we were no longer at the highest point of the mountain, we were warm as we stepped out on the snow, we then decided to make the most of a great opportunity and had a snow ball fight!
A snowball fight in the sunshine half way down mount blanc was quite an experience, I must say, and we had alot of laughs.
When we were worn out it was nice to just be able to sit in the snow...

I’ve just returned from a holiday in Nice, where there’s approximately 300 days of sunshine a year, there are French women sunbathing topless on the beach, and you can dunk your baguette in your coffee and just sit back and watch the world go by. I went more
Hoping for a short break in the sun we opted for Nice which is a great city. The hotel was located on the main promenade , easy walking distance to all the big fashion shops and the old town. It was also a very easy bus ride from the airport, the bus... more
