Glasgow Tries Harder Updated 3/04 (scroll down)

Advantages: unexpected, value
Disadvantages: not picture postcard pretty

...one day. Coming into Glasgow by train or motorway you are immediately aware of the grim housing schemes that encircle much of the place. It seemed a good idea post-war to knock down all the unheathy tenements and ship people out to prefabricated housing schemes. What a mistake. Arriving in the city centre, what is apparant is that Glaswegians love to shop. It is always busy. It is said that Glasgow has the best shopping after London and I would ...
...Key developments are the wonderful Glasgow Science Centre, Planitarium and IMAX, shortly to be joined by a new transport Museuem, BBC and it is rumoured Channel 4. Keep going and you will come to working class Ibrox (Rangers FC), Partick, and the out-of-town Braehead Shopping Mall, which is mostly in Renfrewshire (to Glasgow's disgust when they tried to levy Council Tax). Braehead, which is designed for carborne familes, and features the UK's bigest ...

Firstbus for students

Advantages: Very economical for journeys where you need to change bus. Also good for return journeys.
Disadvantages: You must have a student card. It's easy to lose your ticket. Hard to work out the bus routes and pickup points if you don't know the city.

...travelling all over the city, if you have plenty of time. It can be tricky to work out the bus routes though so if you are only in town for a day you'd be better staying in the town centre and maybe getting the underground to see the West end. ...

Glasgooow :]

Advantages: the people
Disadvantages: the weather

I totally love Glasgow !! Ive lived close to Glasgow all my life and i cannot think of a nicer place. The weathers not so good but the people are amazing. When you go into glasgow you are guaranteed to see soo many different types of people , it could be business men and woman , punks , goths , scene kids , old ladies , you name it , glasgow is packed with them . If you want to go shopping then Glasgow city centre is the place to be. Not only ...
...list all the shops in Glasgow the list would be endless . Its more than likely that the shop you are looking for will be in Glasgow city centre. Glasgow also has thousands of places to eat . Theres the usual McDonalds , KFC and Pizza Hut , infact theres at least 5 of each scattered throughout the streets . There are lots of small restuarants , pubs or more sophisticated eating places. Throughout Glasgow there are many museums , art galleries , statues ...

Flyglobespan - Airline - Flights leaving from Glasgow

Advantages: Cheap flights from Glasgow to Gran Canaria
Disadvantages: Delays not uncommon - so i'm told

i have flew with flyglobespan for the last 3 years from Glasgow to Gran Canaria. The first couple of years were without incident but this year the flight was delayed by 5 hours approx there and back!!!! Which was not amusing when it takes 3 hours to get the airport from our home location. Why book with flyglobespan you ask then? Well the answer is because it is a Scottish airline and flights are leaving from Glasgow - for some reason the majority ...
...holiday in the Uk. As you may be aware bank holidays in the uk are not the same in Scotland. Therefore, the flights are always between £50 and £100 cheaper per person. If there is a family of four flying to Gran Canaria or wherever then £400 is a lot of savings. Basic flight - you can chose if you want to upgrade to seats with more leg room, or meals etc. But if you're looking for a bargan flight - don't discount flyglobespan. its worth a look . ...

My Heart Belongs to Glasgow

Advantages: Good shopping, plenty to see.
Disadvantages: Generally quite bad weather.

...I'm a bit biased, but Glasgow is one of my all time favourite cities. Not as upmarket as Edinburgh, Glasgow doesn't have itself a huge castle, but it does have Buchanan Galleries! Glasgow's big strong point is definately the shopping, but it has quite a lot to see and do as well. Kelvingrove Museum, the Museum of Transport, People's Palace and the Hunterian at Glasgow University spring to mind. Even for those that aren't interested in museums, ...
...interesting anatomy museum. The Barras is an interesting place to visit and shop, and there are plenty of theatres and restaurants around Glasgow. The SECC usually has some good events on, too. Glasgow isn't a particularly expensive city, although it does tend to be rather cold and wet. ...
