Count Me Out!
Advantages: Good, cheap food; warm... Disadvantages: Long waiting times; untidy; just not that great...
The Counting House The Counting House is part of the Wetherspoon's chain of pubs, which you don't really notice from the outside. It's located in the centre of Glasgow on St. Vincent's Place, which is across from George's Square. It is located in a really good place, it's so close to the main shopping part of Glasgow and George's Square looks gorgeous around Christmas with all the lights. From the outside, the building is amazing. It's quite ... ...is a huge bar in the middle of the room, surrounded by bar stools. There are also high tables around the centre of the room. If you go a little further from the bar you will find tables and chairs for those wanting to eat, there are also some little rooms which are off from the main part of the pub. The pub is open from 9am to midnight every day, but they stop serving food at 11pm. It's child friendly, the offer wi-fi access and there are television ...

Thai Siam - "Siam the One and Only!"
Advantages: Tasty, fresh tasting food. Superb service. Disadvantages: Slightly out of the city centre
Thai Siam was our choice of eatery recently after an early evening excursion to the theatre. It was a wet, miserable evening but the welcome was warm and the atmosphere cosy.
Situated in the West End of Glasgow at 1191 Argyle Street, Thai Siam is unimpressive from the outside, just another building in a row of shops with a neon sign. However the interior is modern and tastefully decorated. The restaurant seats approximately 60 on decent sized tables. ... ...friendly staff, dressed in traditional Thai costume who led us straight to our table. There was a basket of complimentary Thai prawn crackers waiting for us – and none of those white, polystyrene-like Chinese takeaway crackers – they were darker, crisper and actually smelled and tasted of prawn. We made short work of them, while we perused the extensive menu.
The choice is absolutely bamboozling – an excellent selection of seafood and vegetarian ...

The Anarkali - Super-Curry-is-Delicious-Prices-Aren't-Atrocious!
Advantages: Excellent value for money, good quality food, no charge for corkage Disadvantages: Toilets a bit "basic", to be avoided during Hampden events
The Anarkali Indian restaurant on Victoria Road in Glasgow is superb for a budget night out.
Situated in the Southside of Glasgow, it is an old fashioned curry house. The décor doesn’t seem to have been updated in the last twenty years and the toilets are “compact” and basic to say the least.
It’s a bit on the dark side inside, but the tables, cutlery and glasses are clean and hygienic looking. Probably seating approximately 50 patrons at most, ... ...What makes the Anarkali ideal for eating out in these credit crunch times or when meeting a large group of friends, is that it has no drinks licence. So you bring your own. Or buy from the conveniently located off-licence just down the road. There is no charge for corkage and they are happy to assist with bottle-opening and provide glasses, ice etc for no extra charge. We usually request jugs of iced tap water for our table too and there is no problem ...

The Mussel inn
Advantages: Good quality mussels, good lunchtime deal Disadvantages: Expensive if paying for a full price evening meal.
The Mussel Inn is a seafood restaurant specialising in mussels, oysters and scallops. The Glasgow restaurant is at 157 Hope Street in the city centre and the Edinburgh one is at 61 Rose Street. I have only been to the Glasgow restaurant and so will primarily be reviewing that location. First of all for anyone with environmental concerns the seafish is all from renewable sources from the lochs and sea lochs of Scotland's west (atlantic) coast. The ... ...another time to experience it. The deal is on mondays to fridays from opening to 5pm and consists of a large bowl of mussels in a choice of sauces (I recommend the cream, shallots and white wine which is the best for mussels!) with salad or chips, as much bread as you want and a drink-glass of wine, bottle of beer or a soft drink. There is a lot of food that is all freshly cooked and very tasty. Extra bread will be brought over free of charge if ...

Hot and spicy in Glasgow
Advantages: Great food Disadvantages: Not a huge selection
...one of which was in The Wee Curry Shop along Byres Road in the West End of Glasgow. The Wee Curry Shop has three outlets in Glasgow: Ashton Lane, which is the West End's bar street and Buccleuch Street, which is near the Glasgow School of Art. I didn't visit either of the other two outlets, but friends who have claim that they are similar, with some differences in the menu. Location: 41 Byres Street

... ...brilliant. Going straight in through the door takes you directly into the restaurant and it seems really small, with the bar to the left and a couple of tables towards the back with padded seating, which looked a little casual and would probably be better for lunch. Thankfully, there is another part to the restaurant - upstairs, which is where we were taken. There are only about six tables upstairs though, so this isn't a massive restaurant - no ...
