    Advantages Advantages Clean and Efficent

Disadvantages Disadvantages Busy at Peak Times

Glasgow International Airport is situated nine miles from Glasgow city centre and approximately fifty miles from Edinburgh. It is a very busy airport and serves the West of Scotland though with the range of flights available passengers travel from as far as Aberdeen . How to get there. By bus. There is an excellent service which runs into Glasgow Buchanan Street frequently and also a service into Paisley Gilmour Street Railway Station. By Car It is served by a major road network which provides easy access to a wide variety of important Scottish locations. The airport is easily accessible by ... more

Advantages Advantages Local, dont need to fly from English airports. Good road connections

Disadvantages Disadvantages No direct rail link

Glasgow International Airport ( or Abbotsinch for those of us with longer memories ) is visible from the M8 motorway about 8 miles out of Glasgow and a mile or so from Paisley. So is very accessible to reach by car. It is my local airport and I have flown from here many a time on both international and domestic flights. One thing to confirm, if you are using a low cost airline, is which Glasgow Airport you are going to. There is another - Glasgow Prestwick ( airport code PIK ) which is about 25 miles south of Glasgow. Ryanair fly to Prestwick not Glasgow. There are 5 different parking areas ... more

Advantages Advantages Good links with airlines

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Local transport facilities

Its a good airport but with one major drawback - the links into the city centre of Glasgow. If you're in a hurry to get into the centre of town and can't afford a cab then forget it. I have travelled to Glasgow on business on a number of occasions and like it. It is a vibrant city with lots to do when works finished. Getting there, in my experience, has been fairly painless and it's a nice ride on clear day over the Lake District from where I travel from. The airport itself has good facilities, plenty of bars and cafes, plenty of quality shops and the check-ins are located directly opposite ... more

Advantages Advantages international, national and regional flights

Disadvantages Disadvantages no direct rail link

Having spent the last summer stuck in traffic jams on the M6 (adding up to 6 hours to my journeys), I decided to start using various airlines to get between Scotland and England. I considered attempting the rail-bus link from Paisley Gilmour Street, but it was just as easy to get the direct bus from the City centre, removing the further need to change at Paisley. This also removed the need to park the car at the airport. Loads of room for my luggage, and more... On arrival at Glasgow International Airport (well it does serve the USA every week) check-in is now a streamlined process for the ... more

Advantages Advantages Close to City Centre

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can take ages into the city centre

Glasgow is Scotland's busiest airport and at times it seems like it can't cope or perhaps doesn't appear interested in coping. There are a good number of destinations although too many through hub airports like Heathrow. More direct services would be useful. It is handy for Glasgow City outside peak traffic times but it can be frustrating waiting in peak hour traffic when trying to get into the city. A train link like they have from Glasgow's other airport at Prestwick would be useful. The international pier at Glasgow is modern and spacious whilst the domestic business pier is OK but a bit ... more
