picturesque views of Inverness Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre. The main hotel restaurant - Nico's Grill & Seafood restaurant is well known locally for superb seafood dishes, with prime scotch beef a speciality. The main city centre shopping areas, including the main railway station, are just a few minutes walk away. The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area on foot or by car. Take a walk around the scenic Ness Islands (just a stroll along the river bank). The city centre of Inverness is just five minutes walk away. If you want to explore by car, take a trip down to Loch Ness or travel out to the Black Isle. There are whisky distilleries nearby in Glen Ord and Tomatin to name but two. Culloden battlefield, Fort George and the Clava Cairns offer points of interest for History buffs, whilst more up to date culture can be experienced in many of the clubs, bars and music venues in Inverness itself.
Advantages: Excellent base for the Highlands. History abounds. Disadvantages: Unreliable weather
...number of ethnic eateries of real quality.
On the two occasions I stayed in Inverness I found the shopping opportunities to be very good.Overseas visitors in particular seem to be avid buyers of things Scottish such as whisky,tartans,kilts, Cashmere sweaters,unique Scottish foodstuffs and the like. Britain's northern most entertainment haumt, The eden Theatre, is a fine spot for entertainment and attracts international performers. Inverness is also a fine base for the Highlands including the famous Loch Ness, the Highland Wildlife Centre, Culloden,Cawdor Castle and the very scenic glens....

Advantages: Fantastic Scenery, Lots Of Wildlife Disadvantages: The Midges, Difficult To Get To
...Glen Affric has been described by many writers of Scottish Books as "the most beautiful Glen in Scotland." It is a place that I have visited many times and having seen this place at first hand and also many other Glens in Scotland I will not try and dispute this claim.
THE LOCATION
Glen Affric lies on the A831 just 24 miles to the West of Inverness, 15 miles from Drumnadrochit, and 65 miles to the East of Fort William.
GLEN AFFRIC
Access to Glen Affric is via a single track Road that leaves the A831 at Fasnakyle Power Station near Cannich.
This Road initially follows the River Affric and then eventually runs alongside the shores of Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin. It is a dead end Road that continues for 5 miles so your return journey will be back along this same route.
Glen Affric is an example of one of the largest surviving natural...

Advantages: Much, much more than just a monster-haunt. Disadvantages: None, unless you are afraid of monsters.
...{Brief introduction by Aspen: It’s not often I get email from a monster. And I would have ignored it, had it not contained such a heartfelt plea. But the obvious pain and suffering incurred in the arduous use of the keyboard with webbed feet, brought a tear to my eye. And the genuine love for Loch Ness and its environs struck a chord, as did the plea for peace and quiet, and the largely-unheeded cry that the Great Glen has so much more to offer than just an obsession with one shy creature.
I make no apology, therefore, for presenting in full, this email from Nessie.}
Dear Aspen
Forgive me for approaching you like this. But as you have an interest in things Scottish, and write occasionally on Ciao, I hoped you could publicise my plight.
My loch is famed throughout the world. Tourists come in droves, in a vain quest...
