I think that I am in a unique position to comment on GVI, having just returned from 10 months of traveling and doing 3 GVI projects in a row. My aim was to take some time to see the world, immerse myself in cultures and to try and give something back to the world. My first project was "Teach...

The 4 weeks I spent in Gordons Bay and working in Nomzamo were the most incredible, and eye-opening weeks of my life so far. In January I volunteered in Latvia for 4 weeks, at an orphanage. It was an awesome experience! Coming from North Queensland, Australia and going into a European winter was very exciting! Apparently it was the worst winter in 30 years, so the staff thought it was hilarious that an Aussie was...

I went to Ao Luk, Krabi in Thailand for 10 weeks to Teach English. When I decided to go travelling the hardest part was finding an organisation which I trusted. Hello I am Laura, 20 years old and from Scotland. I was in Pez Maya, Mexico for 5 weeks during the summer of 2010. It was one of the best experiences of my life! I wish I had stayed for the 10 weeks as it would have been so worth it. The GVI staff were so welcoming and helpful. Arriving at Pez...

I travelled to South Africa with GVI on the Wildlife Research Expedition, and it was the best thing I ever did. The staff were amazing, I learnt an incredible amount about conservation research and wildlife. Not only that, but I got to meet some pretty amazing likeminded people from all over the world, that i'm still in touch with today. I would recommend the opportunity to anyone with an interest in animals. A life changing experience!
