When I was given a holiday as a Christmas present I was thrilled. My husband explained it was a last minute idea and we would be flying with the no frills airline Globespan. We had booked a trip to Canada with them several years ago but then they put us on an Air Transat flight so this would be my first flight with them. After the wind, wet and then snow we had had since New Year I would have flown on a motorised broomstick just to get away.

We arrived at Glasgow airport in plenty time for our flight and were pleasantly surprised to find the check - in not only open but with no queue. The weight allowance on this airline is 15k for luggage and 5k for hand luggage. This is not a lot if you are going for more than a week and we had been advised to take a case each as they did not always double the capacity for two people sharing. I was surprised that even our hand luggage was weighted. Check in was very smooth and soon we were heading upstairs with boarding cards for seats 17e and f a window and a middle seat.

When the flight started to board we were surprised to find it already half full then we were told the flight had started in Edinburgh and touched down to collect the Glasgow passengers.

The configuration inside the plane a 737-600 was three on each side with a centre aisle. As we settled into our navy leather seats the hostesses went through the safety instructions and pointed out exits and toilet location. There were two toilets to the rear of the plane but I cannot comment on there condition as I didn't go but the plane was very clean.

We had a very smooth take off bang on time and soon climbed to 38,000 ft our cruising altitude. We spread ourselves out as no one else had joined us the legroom was adequate for a short journey but anything more than three hours might be a bit cramped. I felt that I had plenty room but I am short.

Soon the cabin crew were coming round with food to purchase there was quite a lot to choose from.
Sandwiches £3 per pack hot or cold
Snack pack containing mini cheese biscuits cheese spread 2pks crackers and kit kat for £2.50
Pringles £1
Mini Cheddars 0.80
Mini Poppadums and Chutney £1.60
Soup choice of two flavours for £2
Tea Coffee of hot Chocolate £1.60
Various muffins, biscuits, shortbread and sweets were also on offer.
Soft drinks coke, irn bru, orange & tomato juice, Tonic or sparkling water 0.70
Still water and Ribena £1
Red Bull £2
Alcoholic drinks were all £3 including three varieties of wine, spirits, lager and Alco pops they even had Champagne at £7.50

We opted for a Chicken and Ham Malted Wheat grain Bloomer made by Sandwiches of Distinction, A Mars Bar 2 pack and a bottle of water in total £5 with I felt for what we got quite reasonable as we had noticed that in the airport they were charging £3.99 for a roll in sausage without a drink.
The service was quick and efficient and they were soon going up and down collecting any rubbish.

Next came the trolley selling perfume ,aftershave, cosmetics, jewellery, toys and games. Plus a range of Globespan gifts Pens, Playing Cards, Model Aircraft, Key Rings, Fridge Magnets and Toy Planes.

The flight was smooth and as my husband had fallen asleep I settled down with my book. Before long we were starting our decent into Palma and touched down safely fifteen minutes early.

My overall impressions of Flying Globespan were good. A minor incident with an inebriated passenger was dealt with quickly and efficiently and I was impressed with the professionalism shown. I have no hesitation recommending them for a short haul flight as I said before longer than four hours or if you are very tall perhaps this is not the airline for you.
