During the long Summer holidays, we are always looking for new things to do with the children. A friend advised me of an exciting day out in the heart of Thetford Forest, which will appeal to older children and adults alike, so we decided to give Go Ape! a try. Advantages: Great day out for the whole family Disadvantages: I forgot the camera
Recently it was a friend's hen party and we were unsure of what to do, and how to celebrate it. A group of us got together and came up with suggestions. These were the usual night out in Blackpool, weekend in London, a four day drinking session in Benidorm, limousine for the night but we wanted to do something that would suit everyone.
Many of our friends are short of money and have commitments, so the trips away were a no go. Then on a trip to ... ...flyer for Go Ape.
This was it everyone agreed to the go ape adventure and then a night out in our town, this way it saved money for those who were short of money and those who couldn't leave children. The problem was solved and the bride to be was over the moon.

Advantages: Great fun, lovelly setting, good confidence builder Disadvantages: A bit expensive.
If you have ever climbed trees and wanted to swing from them tarzan style then go ape is for you!
The one I went to is set in Thetford Forest. It is easy to spot where to turn in from the road. It has a nice lot of flags right by the main gate.
You have to pay £4.00 to get into the area which is a little annoying but what the hey!
At High lodge go ape is the main "attraction" but there is also bikes to hire a maze and childrens play area. You ... ...are not allowed to bring your own for safety reasons.
Anyway onto go ape; I booked a couple of weeks before the day after looking on their website (www.goape.co.uk) They advise to book before hand because it is so popular. Their website is nice and easy and gives you different times you can book for. When you get there you have to read some information and sign a discalimer then you get harnessed up by an instructor and they go through a safety ...

Advantages: fun, exciting, a bit scary too! Disadvantages: slow, crowded, queues in the trees - took far too long!
We have been here three times now. The first two were wonderful. A fun and challenging course, competed in around two strenuous and exciting hours, ideal for teenagers and for fit parents!
Our third visit in April 2007 was however disappointing - seems like Go Ape are what you might say "sweating their assets" and running far too many people through the course at a time. We had long delays today and it took us an incredibly long and frustrating ... ...spent hanging on lines or standing around on the tree platforms behind a traffic jam of other users. It was so busy, that customers were crowding onto tree platforms with four and five people on them instead of three, and with others hanging around on the middle of lines.
This was not good value for something that cost our party of two adults and four kids £130 as a birthday treat. Bad also was the fact that by the time our tired and hungry party ...
