It all started with my boyfriend and myself deciding to go on our first holiday together abroad.
We didn't have a clue where we wanted to go, just an idea how much we wanted to spend (£250 was the limit), so you can imagine we were a worst case scenario for any Travel Agent worth their salt.
I get nervous with brochures - confusion and panic and confusion - you get the picture... And, bless him as a virgin to foreign hols - himself wasn't going to be of imense help.
Anyway down we sat in front of Sian, Travel Agent 1, who went through our requirements with us, unfazed by the measly sum we wanted to spend for a Winter Sun holiday, and set up a search. We went through many suggestions, giving us the pros and cons of each one.
We eventually settled on Villamora in Portugal, and a payment plan was organised. This was an easy plan which we found bareable to pay (I don't like paying for things - so bareable is v. good!)
The staff were so friendly and each one was ready to give an opinion on our destination and those that we didn't pick. A case of "My mother went there and said it was best for young ones" or "That was a great place - one of the nicest beaches I've been on" etc
Great advice about weather and currency was given, and I felt that they really cared that you had a good holiday. Whilst there on that day, they had an influx of people coming in to thank them for a great holiday, giving their views on the accomodation, area etc... and they were genuinely interested to hear it all.
Every time I went in to pay, they wold remember me and where I was to go and would ask me if I was exited and let me know the opinions of people that had just come back from the resort.
A month before our departure, we had a phonecall to tell us that some building works were happening close to the hotel, although it wasn't too intrusive, we were free to change destinations.
I decided to change, as they do tend to stat building works really early abroad. My mother came with me, to make sure I got the best deal (bless her, still sees me as a baby!!) and she was also very impressed with their attitude. They found me an excellent deal to Morocco (see my review in Destinations - Tactics for Agadir), which meant I got third of my money back.
My mother is going on holiday with a different travel agent, but asked them for some tips on her destination. She was treated as she had booked it with themselves and given all the information she needed.
Anyway after that, the tickets came in quickly, and off I went. I'm going back to Going Places next month to book a holiday in October - cant wait!!

For a moment, after reading the title, I thought you booked a holiday TO Rhyl, North Wales, and I was going to say you poor, poor thing... just kidding, I can't say anything, I'm from Merthyr Tydfil... good op.
