I have just spent a week in the Donaire Park Hotel with my wife and son who is just under 2 yrs old. The hotel is very much bigger than it looks from the outside and was generally a very good place to stay. The staff are all very friendly and always helpful no matter what time of day you might need some help.
The dining facilities are excellent with a wide range of food on every night. We never had the same thing twice (except for chips). On an evening I would always recommend walking to to the bottom of the food hall where you will find a chef serving a nice piece of freshly cooked meat... Beef, Pork, Turkey etc. The breakfast was as you would expect usually the same, bacon eggs sausage etc .I would also suggest using the toaster on the right hand side just by the main serving area as this was the best and quickest of the three in use. The bar area was always clean and tidy but my only gripe would be that the was not enough bar staff on for the nights entertainment, sometimes the bar would be four deep.
The entertainment was great for both adults and children alike. The childrens entertainment ran throughout the day till maybe 8 or 9pm then the bingo would start. Although my son was to young to join the kids club (3 yrs and over) he still had great fun at the kids disco 7.00 till 8.00. The pool area was always clean but the water was freezing cold. When the pool is open there was always a guard watching over the area in case of any mishaps.
The rooms are basic to say the least. We had single beds, a shower/bath, toilet, b-day, sink and a portable TV. The storage place or room in general was not big enough at all. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis which is good, towels are only changed if you leave them on the floor and not hanging or folded over the bath. You would think the rooms would at least have a fridge in them to keep you milk cool for the toddlers and your beer cool for the adults. Each room has a safe in but you much purchase the key from the reception which cost 26 euros and once returned you get 6 euros back.... needless to say we did not take the option of the using the safe.
Departure day. My word of advice here is get the lift as soon as possible, we waited 20 minutes and even then we had to split up to get into the dam thing. The hotel has no concept of how to use the lifts on your final day. You have people arriving, normal people going to the beach / pool and the the people trying to get their luggage into the lifts. Dont do do what we did and wait till 15 minutes before your coach is due to check out...do it as early as possible.
The location of the hotel is excellent, the beach is right on the door step, the bus to Salou, Portaventura and many more places is a 2 minute walk down the promenade.
