Golden Sands 3 Apartments, Dubai

Advantages: shopping, beaches, gold, nice and warm weather
Disadvantages: Can get too hot :-)

...itself was buzzing with life even if it was late and once we got out of the doors of the airport we were met by lots of people with posters for the different hotels and they were all trying to find the people that they were meant to pick up. We had not arranged for a pick up but we found a guy with the Arif Castle hotel on a poster and we asked him if we could catch a ride back to the hotel. And that was not a problem at all. When we got to the hotel they had all our details from our booking at reisefeber.no and soon we could jump into bed. The Arif Castle hotel The Arif Castle is a 3 star hotel located in Bur Dubai. There is a description of the hotel on the following page http://www.ssdubai.com/uae/arif castle/hotel.htm but I’m not sure if I agree with all the stuff that is said about the hotel. Advantages: Clean, safe, sophisticated, very friendly, modern, shopping! Offers the best of East and West
Disadvantages: None (At present I really cant think of any..just hope too much tourism doesn’t kill the place in 10 years time!)

...Imagine gazing at clear blue skies, walking along clean, golden sandy beaches whilst soaking up the sun and admiring the clear blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. A place where you can also shop till you drop with bargains in the bazaars and souks. Then, at dusk watch the sun go down in an oasis where you taste buds are awakened with the aroma of the finest kebabs and vegetables sizzling away over an open fire delicately laced in spices. Where can you find all this and so much more? in a desert; yes, that’s right! in the fast developing and sophisticated city of Dubai in the Middle East. I recently had the opportunity to visit Dubai on return from my journey to India and was pleasantly surprised by this modern hi-tech city that manages to combine the best of the West whilst retaining the best of the East’s charm, culture and friendly... Advantages: Proper brand name Coke and large bottle servings - I'm easily pleased, y'see
Disadvantages: The busy areas are even busier at night

...There's a song that features on the soundtrack of many of my favourite films that goes: "No matter where we go, London, Paris, Rome, It feels like Anywhere, USA" It's never something I really understood, since to me those three capitals are all very different from each other, and to anywhere in the USA that I've been, but I figured it was written by someone who'd never actually left the States, and who based their assumptions on the Hollywood version of Europe that comes across in films. But, then I went to Bulgaria, and a week on my overriding thought is that Golden Sands could have been anywhere, really, or at least any package holiday destination - it has bits of Greece, bits of Spain, bits of Malta and bits of lots of other places if you take the time to look Though people who (a) live there or (b) stayed a small distance...
