I chose to take my boyfriend to Amsterdam for his 21st birthday but all the hotels in the City Centre that were in my price range had awful reviews, then i came across the Golden Tulip in Zanndam.
Although it is not in the city centre it is so easy to get there from this lovely hotel it's worth the extra journey to stay in a much nicer hotel. The train station is right next to the hotel (although there is no noise) and it is only 2-3 Euros return. We used to go out in the morning, come back late afternoon and then head back out in the evening and never found it a problem catching the train. It was also very easy to catch the train from the airport to the hotel.
The staff at the hotel are lovely and the room very clean and in a very nice condition. Because we saved so much money not staying in the city centre we were able to stay in a superior room which was lovely and included bath robes and slippers.
There are shops nearby and so we bought some water for the room, as the mini bar is very expensive.
In the hotel lobby there is a lovely bar with a big roaring fire which was very nice as we went in October and it was a bit chilly.
I would def recommend this hotel, and Amsterdam, we had such a fab time and are looking to go back.
