I feel that I must write a review in defence of Goldtrail Holiays, even though I do have one grievance against them. I booked a trip to Marmaris via Bodrum Airport with Goldtrail from 12/07/06 - 19/07/06. I was a little wary as I had never been to Turkey (except a day trip to Bodrum from Kos) and I had never heard of Goldtrail. The holiday was Our choice - Marmaris, which meant allocation on arrival. We arrived at Bodrum airport at 15:50 and were on the coach and making our way to Marmaris by 16:30. We had a comfort break half way for about 20 minutes as it is a 2 and a half hour transfer. We eventually arrived at our destination 'Marmaris Beach Hotel' situated
behind Natalies Steakhouse 2 at around 19:15. I was put at ease straight away as the hotel was meticulously clean and the staff on reception were really helpful. I paid for air conditioning which was £25 for the week, and is one of the best £25 I have ever spent. Believe you me, you need it in July!
After unpacking we headed downstairs and the waiters in Natalies all said hello and asked us if we would like a drink. We sat down to a well deserved bottle of Efes lager (local lager) which went down a treat. We looked at the menu and decided to eat there as all the meals we saw being delivered looked very appetising. My Husband had T bone steak £7.50 and I had Spaghetti bolognese £4. The meals were absolutely delicious. You even get 10% discount at Natalies and Alexandras if you stay at the Marmaris Beach Hotel as they are owned by the same group.
We made our way along the beach that evening and after sampling one or two drinks in the beach front bars, we settled down for the next few hours in Beaches. Karaoke and Dance bar. I have never seen waiters work so hard in my life. Between waiting on the tables, they are up dancing and entertaining the customers and children. Well done boys, especially to Erhon and Fabio.
Due to the heat we spent every day on the beach, which was about 20 yards from the hotel bar. The beach had free sunbeds and parasols and service from Natalies waiters. (I felt like a queen).
The hotel room was cleaned every day, the bed linen was changed about 4 times in the week, and clean towels were supplied daily.
I was very lucky to have been placed at Marmaris Beach Hotel and thanks to the Management and Staff we had a brilliant week there. Kemal who was waiter by day and security by night is one of the nicest guys I have met in my life.
The flight back was 06:30am so we got picked up around 12:30. This was the only downfall to the holiday.
I enjoyed it so much that I have booked up to go back again in September with Goldtrail. It was cheaper to book B&B for Sept than allocation on arrival with the hope I would have gone back to Marmaris Beach Hotel. I feel I have to go back to explore Marmaris as all we saw was the beach, beach front bars and one street behind. Flying into Dalaman from Cardiff this time as the transfer is not as long and the the flight times are much nicer. This time we are going to the Senfoni Hotel. I have read good and bad reviews on this hotel, but will keep an open mind and write a review on it when I return.
My only grievance with Goldtrail is that on returning home we went and booked alloation on arrival for 2 weeks in September for £172 for 2 adults. I couldnt believe the price and thought what a bargain. I paid for this holiday and was really pleased with myself, until that afternoon I had a call to say the holiday was priced wrong on the computer and the real price was nearer £600. I called Goldtrail direct and eventually managed to speak to a Manager (Sam) who offered me £30 discount. I refused this stating that if I bought a loaf of bread at 50p the shop keeper wouldnt call me later on to tell me the bread had gone up and I owed another 30p. I found Sam the Manager very unwilling to listen and just loved his own voice. He said I had to cancel or he would be cancelling for me as there was no way I would be allowed to travel for that price.
I could have spited myself and never booked with Goldtrail again, but I cant let the influence of 'Sam' spoil what was a really good cheap fantastic week in Marmaris.
Keep up the good work Goldtrail and lets hope to see nicer reviews here soon.
