I was reading some reviews on Goldtrail holidays and feel a bit disapointed that there arent many reviews on them nor good ones at that.
Goldtrail are a fairly new company - they are Turkey specialists but are doing well for themselves as this year they have also introduced Spain.
I would highly recommend Goldtrail holidays for anyone looking for a good budget holiday. Dont book Goldtrail if your looking for elegance and superior accommodation. The prices goldtrail offer are absolutley fantastic - you can get Self Catering or Bed and Breakfast
holidays to Turkey for as little as £129 per person - maybe even cheaper!!
Flights - Turkey ---------- Goldtrail use Turkish airlines - such as Onur Air or PegasusAirlines. Ive flown with 2 of these companies and did not have any compaints... they were punctual and service was friendly, meals were also nice. My most recent flight was in March 2005, my only complaint was that there was no inflight entertainment therefore no tv or radio - so perhaps that would be something you would wish to consider as flights to Turkey tend to be average of about 4hours from the Uk.
They fly from most Uk major airports - they fly into Dalaman, Bodrum or Antalya throughout May - October.
Transfers ------------- They have their own Goldtrail buses - resort transfers were all on time. Transfer Reps didnt have too much to say on the buses but personally I like that as its the usual you hear on the buses anyway in my opinion.
Accommodation ------------------------ Most of Goldtrail Hotels are Bed & Breakfast but also do All Inclusive and Half Board and of course lots of Self Catering Apartments. They do not over rate hotels at all so you really have no false expectations of where you will be staying.
I have stayed in 3 Goldtrail units all in Marmairs - Sisters Apartments - Which I can honestly say are the nicest and cleanest apartments I have stayed in my 9 years of travelling to Marmaris! Club Happy Days - which was basic apartments but the pool area was fantastic - Really happy holiday atmosphere. Kocer Apartments - Again basic but excellent location on bus route.
I havent stayed in any Goldtrail properties outwith the Marmaris area so I can only speak for Marmaris but this review is on my opinion of the company which I am sure is standard throughout regardless of resort.
I like the fact that they have plenty of units to offer, and also for people travelling on their own they dont charge supplements for sole occupancy which is absolutley fantastic...makes you wonder why the other companies get away with charging so much!
Reps -------- My rep service was absolutley fine, always had reps in each unit everyday... sometimes they wouldnt be there very long but they always made an appearence. There is also an emergency 24 hour contact number to speak to a rep should you need to. I couldnt complain at all about the rep service however I dont tend to rely on my reps when abroad, I tend to make my own way around without the help of a rep... but its good piece of mind to know theres someone there to help should you need.
Excursions ---------------- Goldtrail offer all the excursions that other major tour operators offer in comparison in price im not sure how they compare however they do sometimes do offers for example purchase 2 excursions get a bar crawl free or free t-shir or free drink etc.
Value -------- I find it difficult to find a holiday cheaper than what Goldtrail offer even at last minute prices. You can even buy flight only and their prices with this are also very competitive. Sometimes you wonder how they manage it - but I have been most impressed in terms of value with all my purchases.
Overall ---------- I cant fault Goldtrail. I have heard of people having bad experiences in which I would say could have happened with any company, the prices that you pay with Goldtrail do sometimes reflect your quality of accommodation - but your definetly getting what you pay for. They offer options for everyone - families, couples, single travellers, flight only, groups.... just like any major tour operator Goldtrail try their best to keep everyone happy.
I can only suggest that you give them a try - ive not been disapointed therefore I highly recommend them for their great value for money.... I wish there were more companies like them.
