Advantages: Not full of British Tourists, Quiet but with nightlife. Disadvantages: Quite windy
...on the seafront, plenty of Spanish bars and restaurants, some catering for childrens favourite meals and others that are more haute cuisine. There are a couple of Chinese, one German , one Mexican, and a couple of Italian restaurants. During this last year two new quality bars have opened which attract the smart set, but many people eat at home then come down and sit around the town square, sip a beer and watch the world go by whilst their kids play football or play on the sand. It's a very safe family atmosphere and because many Spanish children have a siesta it is not unusual for them to be out, playing at 11pm at night.
If you want to drop back into English culture, GolfdelSur , and Los Cristianos are an easy drive away. We watched Manchester United and Manchester City play their matches in the sports bars at GolfdelSur. A car gives you more...

Advantages: Weather, Beaches, Value for money. Disadvantages: Having to come home
...Tenerife is an ideal location for almost any time of the year. The Winter months can be a cold as 70f which can be about as good as the British summer. I have stayed in Los Cristianos, which is a quieter part of Tenerife, yet just a short walk or taxi from Las Americas. I have also stayed at Gulf delSur, which boasts some excellent golf courses, but you have to duck every now and then, as Gulf delSur is just 10 minutes from the airport, and in some parts you can actually see the runway, so this resort can be pretty noisy. I stayed in Las Americas just before Easter this year, and I stayed at La Isla Bonita, which is located the other end of Las Americas and not too far from the busy and buzzing Veronicas, which is where you go for the best night life in Las Americas....

Advantages: Great weather Disadvantages: Aircraft noise in the part we stayed!
...terrain for quite a way, not for prams or people who are not nimble footed! The views are fantastic and watching the local fishermen was very restful. After the hustle and bustle of Playa de las Americas I knew that this was the part of Tenerife I preferred.
**Golf**
There are 2 excellent courses and although we don't play, we did watch some men teeing off. The wind caught the ball and plonk right over the path and into the sea! Some hotels do special deals with the courses for their guests. The area we were in was called GolfdelSur for obvious reasons!
**Costa del Silencio**
The Coast of Silence! The laugh was on us, we realised it was close to the airport, but were assured it was not noisy. We became quite intimate with the bottoms of aircraft. Did you know several have different coloured bottoms? We were directly on the flight path...

...I love Hyatt hotels and La Manga is no exception. I have also reviewed this in more detail on Trip Advisor.
LAs Lomas is the apartment complex owned by the Hyatt group at La Manga. Superb accommodation, great facilities, but pricey.
Recommend the Freedom packages if you are going to play golf or tennis. To be honest I wouldn't go there if it wasnt to play golf as there are nicer parts of Spain which are much better value.
Golf is fabulous, in particular the South copurse which will rtest the best golfers, frustrating most.
Food -- higly recommend Amapola in the hotel.
Si! is a good place to take the kids as it has a safe play area right next to the dining room....

Pop these days is a dirty word to those interested in serious music, this was not always the case. There was a stream of bands in the eighties that managed to meld pop melody and sensibilities with a rock attitude and format. The Icicle Works are a... more
