Weymouth has been a popular tourist attraction for many years, with history which dates back to at least 1100 in the history books, therefore you could be excused for thinking that all of Weymouth will be full of historical elements and fancy old fashioned community spots, yet recently, Weymouth has strived to become more modern and local relaxing coffee shops are hard to come by.
Although, like the rest of this seaside port, the historical value has been forgotten in this coffee shop, it is set apart from most shops of its kind through the welcoming and relaxing environment created before you even enter the doors.
You can choose whether to sit outside and baske in the hot (or nearly hot) sunshine, or enter the actual shop and relax in the most comfortable armchairs and sofas you could imagine, though they should come with a warning - Once you sit down and relax, you might find yourself dozing off and not wanting to move!
There is also no worries about seating as, although not realised at first, there is a whole upstairs to this shop with even more comfy armchairs and more places to simply while away the hours, and if you feel like it, there are plenty of local newspapers to keep you amused!
Although some coffee shops will serve you at the table, this one offers a superb service from the counter where you order your drinks and food and have them made fresh for you so you can pick them up from the next counter almost straight away. To some people, though, this may feel like you are on a conveyer-belt, yet the pleasant service does prove to be a solid addition and welcoming treat to your experience.
I have to mention the lovely coffee smell, fresh and ground beans just seem to give of such a welcoming and warm feeling.
The only think which is slightly disappointing is that this shop shuts around 6pm, just when you have finished your expiditions for the day and want to relax with a coffee before dinner and beginning your night entertainment, so this is a slight let down.
*****Food and Drink*****
The food itself is wide ranged, if not slightly expensive. There are a whole selection of sweet and savoury attributes, from simple Weymouth cupcakes, to chocolate toast and sandwiches.
As with the food, the drinks vary in a wide range. Obviously, the speciality it hot drinks, from simple coffee's to latte's, hot chocolates, tea, iced tea - anything you can think of and fancy really. As the staff are so friendly and well trained, they are able to make nearly anything you ask for in this department, and everything is made fresh and tasteful. If possible, I would say that this is one of the best coffee shops in Weymouth (from which I visited anyway!).
Although slightly expensive, it is not too uncommon a price in these smaller shops around this tourist community, and personally, I would rather pay just that little bit extra as the shop as a whole is so relaxing and friendly. The smaller hot drinks are mainly average price, between £0.80 - £1.50 and obviously add up the more you have. Cold drinks are more expensive, and perhaps better off buying these from elsewhere unless you are really going there for the atmosphere.
*****Extras*****
A small benifit to this quaint coffee shop is the loyalty card. You are able to get your card stamped with every drink and obtain a free coffee after your 9th.
Whilst this is worth doing, as it is free, it is also only worth doing if you stick with the same place, something which is each to their own, yet if you are there only for a weekend that is a lot of coffee in such a short time, for one small free coffee. Perhaps not the greatest of incentives, but it is free!
*****Last Word*****
I would certainly recommend that if you are visiting Weymouth, stop in this lovely coffee shop, especially if you want to relax after a long day in the sun!
