Gramercy Park Hotel, New York City

...The Helmsley Park Lane is ideally located - in particular for the first time New York tourist who wants to experience the city's charme. Opposite the hotel lies Central Park and to its right the infamous 5th Avenue with Tiffany's, FAO Schwarz and Saks no more than 5 minutes away. Close to the hotel is also a wealth of good restaurants -the Hard Rock Cafe and the Harley Davidson Cafe, as well as some more unique and fancy establishments on 57th Street. The outside decor of the hotel is disappointing compared to the other places on Central Park South. The hotel lacks the large and luxurious entrance that one may expect to be overwhelmed with by a hotel of its class. The standards rooms are superbly clean (with twice daily maid service). If you are looking for a true 5 star experience, however, you may be a little disappointed... Read review

...My husband and I stayed at the New York Hilton in Central Manhattan over Christmas and New Year. It is in a superb location - on the same street and only a block or two away from Radio City Music Hall. Central Park is in walking distance, as is Times Square, which is a great place to be over the holiday season! The rooms were good - very spacious, clean bathroom and the maid service was excellent. The hotel bars are very well used and extremely welcoming, and the American marketplace restaurant is OK, but if you are in Manhattan there are better places to eat than your hotel restaurant! All in all, it was a decent, clean and comfortable hotel and I would recommend it. The only drawbacks are that as it is so huge and has good business facilities, the lobby tends to be very busy. Advantages: Clean and well equipped good position

...The Hotel Pennsylvannia is the best hotel I have stayed in in central Manhattan. It is perfectly situated for easy access to all of New Yorks best sights. For the single traveller it may be expensive as I found on my first visit but for two it is great. I reccomend booking in advance as rooms are very expensive taken on arrival. Times Square, Maddison Square Gardens, Empire State Building, Central Park and Fifth Avenue are all within easy walking distance. The Statue of Liberty is only a short train ride from the hotel - Look for route 1 at any underground access point. The Hotel has a very good selection of places to eat at resonable prices and has clean spacious well equipped rooms and friendly staff available to assist you at any time. Well worth the trip a very enjoyable Hotel.... Read review
