However, Bahia del Duque surpasses all in its grandeur and level of luxury. If you are attracted to interior design you will definitely love this place. Everything is impeccably clean and wonderfully kept. Careful attention is given to details; from the marble floors, to the furniture used throughout the hotel.

The pools and beach is excellent as well. During the week I have stayed, two days were cloudy and it was a bit cold. Nonetheless, my family and I were able to tan next to the heated pool which was a VERY comfortable temperature.
It was also very pleasant to rest close to the beach on the grass in the little houses. Fresh strawberries and other fruits and pastries were being passed around for free. The beach is very nice as well and is much lighter than all other beaches in Tenerife. If you don't like dark sand then playa el duque is for you.
The rooms were very comfortable and one of the nicest I have ever stayed in. Beds are very comfortable and sheets are very soft (1000 thread cotton perhaps?). You also get a "pillow menu" to select the pillow of your preference such as soft, stiff, down or polyester.
Bathrooms were spacious and clean. However, the shower was uncomfortable and a bit narrow; the shower curtain gets in the way. Very minor complaint but the only thing I disliked about the room.
Breakfast was very nice as well. Fresh squeezed juices, Champagne, salmon and the rest of the regulars. Nice selection of yogurts and cheeses as well.
I did not eat in any restaurants in the hotel because it was overpriced and I prefer to drive out to little towns and eat "real" Spanish food not designed for tourists. If you want any recommendations contact me.
Many people here complain about the unacceptable service of the hotel. In my opinion the service was fine. Not excessive and imposing such as found in smaller luxury hotels yet not indifferent or inadequate. It really depends on what you expect and like.
The hotel is large so you cannot expect the service you would receive perhaps in a small Chaeteu in France.
Lastly, I greatly enjoyed the "vibe" and people of the hotel. There was a nice mix of nationalities AND ages. Many young families and couples and some older ones as well.
We normally travel around in a car and visit the sights however this holiday the car was parked and we only used it to travel to mount teide which was great, the scenery was fantastic.
The security is good and found this place a safe environment.
There is a team of staff who are dedicated to looking after the children and the teenagers they mingle with the teenagers every day and take them of on bike rides, banana boats and organise pool volley ball etc.
The evening entertainment is great for the small children and the adults.
Casa del Lago restaurant has lovely tables by the lake and is very romantic. El Mirador has a relaxed cocktail bar in Roman style, where you can sit and watch the sunset over La Gomera.
Only draw back is, if you struggle with mobility, everywhere is accessible but the cobble stones and steep ramps would be hard work.
The guests are approx. 30% British/40% Eastern European/20% Spanish/10%mix.
