"wow" hotel Advantages: beautiful building Disadvantages: Hot food too cool ...bubbly. Very large spread out hotel and takes a little while to get bearings but fairly new and so easy for wheelchair/pushchair users to get around. Rooms large with lovely bathrooms and highest is 4th floor. Very pretty grounds and swimming pools are well maintained. Exceptionally clean hotel. Grand piano playing in the early evening before dinner. The dinner has two sittings, does not seem to have enough staff when full to serve drinks at table ... ...be on the cool side. Staff bring food from kitchen in plastic containers so time it reaches serving station not very hot. Freshly cooked fish is best bet and large amount of salads and sweets are replenished frequently. There is no outside area for having a drink in evening which is a shame. All evening entertainment is indoors. H10 Playa Meloneras Palace, Grand Canary Advantages: Nice location Disadvantages: Infestation of Spider Ants and the incompitent action of the hotel staff ...are intending to stay at H10 Playa Meloneras Palace, Grand Canary. We booked a week break to stay at what we thought was a 5 star hotel arriving late on Saturday night we went straight to our room which looked very nice and was well placed in the hotel 5th floor and overlooking the pool. When we woke up the next morning we noticed that we were infested with tiny spider like ants all around the room, we went to the welcome meeting and informed the ... ...room whilst we were out, we found a load of these dead spider/ants when we returned so we thought this would be the last of the matter. Next day it got worse they were every where in our clothes in the safe everything we moved or touched these tiny little creatures were everywhere, again we reported it to the hotel reception and the holiday rep it was agreed that they would once again fumigate the room and wash all our clothes. Barceló Margaritas - The Truth! Advantages: Beaches were lovely... Disadvantages: Everything I have listed as 'bad' Barceló Margaritas My boyfriend & I stayed here under half board (so breakfast & dinner were included but not lunch) for a week. It was a major emotional rollercoaster, of ups, downs and mediocrity I must admit. The first day we arrived we threw our belongings down so as to explore, and placed a do not disturb sign on the door. Nido Del Aguila Advantages: Lovely view from Balconies Disadvantages: No Airconditioning Ok, we arrive in Gran Canaria with Thomson, we get to the hotel and check in, all is good. We are told where to go in order to find our room and find there is no lifts. We humph the suitcases up the stairs to our apartments and open them up. Lovely apartments, lovely clean bathrooms and lovely tidy double bed. Where is the air conditioning one asks one self?! There is none! We go to the reception and ask for a fan which the receptionist says we have ... ...we can cool down a bit now! It arrives 2 days later and because of it being soo hot we have had around 5 hours sleep in total! The balconies have great views and it is a very small, quiet hotel! IFA Continental, Playa Des Ingles Advantages: Execellent position next to bus station and close to shops, just far enough away from night life to be quiet. Disadvantages: The food is excellent so you may over eat ! Not very close to beach. I visited this hotel a couple of years ago as the second week of a cruise and stay with TUI. This is a modern hotel with a lift we had a very pleasant room and balcony over looking the front and street but not too noisey. We were half board and we really could not fault the food in anyway, lots of choice hot/cold self service buffet style with daily specials. as much as you could eat. Even though it seemed busy the tables were cleared quickly and ... ...there were not many children there but the ones that were did'nt seem to be at our end of the Hotel. The garden and pool area was very well planned out even though it appears to be right next to a busy road it is not over looked at all. When having a day by the pool we found a quiet corner and nabbed our chairs before breakfast because as usual certain people always save chairs even if they are out for most of the day !
