Gran Casino Royal Hotel Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava

I went to this hotel on the 27th march 2007 for 4 nights we stayed all inclusive, there was a small group of us with one child aged 5. I read alot of reviews about this hotel most of them very bad but it was better than expected.
The room was clean and beds and towels changed daily, the hotel seemed clean too.
I had heard bad things about the lifts but they were very good and looked new and clean i had planned on not using them as i am quite scared of them but since we were on the 5th floor we used them alot and never had any problems.
The food was as expected bread, salad and then a few hot dishes no worse than i would expect at all inclusive hotels, it was changed regular so did not get cold food.
Drinks were fairly good choice had to use plastic cups but think you do in most all inclusive. The entertainment was not any good for kids but it was term time and only afew kids about they did some colouring in the day but at night it was just music except one night there was some brazilian dancers that was good especially when the 2 men got people up out of the audience.
There was quite afew young student around think some were portugeise they did not cause much noise but they did take over all of the disco at times and they were very rude they never said sorry if they walked into you and they wolud push in front of you when queing for drinks the adults were the same they were all rude.
At night we did not have too many problems with the noise from the hotel the problem was from outside the hotel there seemed to be 100s of portugese kids walking the streets around midnight for hours they all looked like teenagers and they were just singing and shouting not sure if they were out clubing as looked too young.
I would not go there in peak season as it was busy enough then it would be horrible trying to get served at bar or get a sunbed round pool. but for the £50 we paid for hotel and £40 for flight i would go again at that time of year. i do think we were very lucky with the noise i could see it been a problem but we were lucky. i would not recommend anyone to go there who likes a quite holiday or an early night only if you like a cheap drinking holiday.
