Advantages: Close to city Disadvantages: expensive
Granada Studios is advertised as a top attraction and appears to be very popular if the number of people who go there are anything to judge by. But the numbers are swollen by coachloads of day trippers who, presumably, buy a packaged day out.
But does it provide good value for money?
It certainly is very expensive if you are taking a family and no doubt many are attracted to the site solely because they want to see Coronation Street at first hand. ... ...greatly disappointed because it is quite small and the Rovers Return is not quite what it seems. There are other exhibits but I did not feel they matched up to the hype of the 'tour'. As a day out I felt it was OK and perhaps there was something for adults and children but I came away disappointed. I think it boiled down to cost. Very pricey for what you get but if you can get hold of some cheap tickets, which are on offer from time to time, then ...

...on a school trip to Granada Studios. Between 1989 and 1999 you could visit the set. In 1999 the exterior set was extended and updated to include more of Rosamund Street. The majority of the interior scenes are shot in a purpose-built studio (you used to be able to see this aswell) Corrie is on on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday night at 7.30 (there is also another episode on usually at 8.30 Monday) Programme --------------- I have grown up watching ... ...on TV. The cast and stroylines are second to none. There must be at least 50 times more laughs per programme than Eastenders and Emmerdale put together. Characters ------------- My favourite characters are Becky and Ashley as the have some very funny lines. All the characters are excellent actors and are well scripted and chosen. ...

Advantages: Things to do for all the family Disadvantages: Not that good really
...Manchester is also home to Granada Television, and perhaps one of the most popular attractions is the Granada studios tour, where you can have a look through the Rovers Return amongst other things. A mini version of Universal studios in America if you like.
Other attractions include the G-Mex centre for exhibitions and the impressive Bridgewater Hall used for conferences and musical events. All very exciting in this fast changing city. ...

, enriches the whole shopping experience.
There is also a wonderful cafe bar culture here, not to mention a large number of pubs many of which retain period features.
Manchester is a brilliant example of a city which has completely reinvented itself. The trams add to the feeling of being "on the Continent." Even Piccadilly Station has been completely transformed, with its coffee shops and bars.
So I can confidently say that Manchester is a very worthy place to visit. It also has at least 4 theatres and a number of museums ranging from the Lowry and the Imperial War Museum at Salford Quays, to the Museum Of Science & Industry at Castlefields.
Oh, and if you need a room for the night it is spilling over with hotel accommodation!
My only disappointment is that the GranadaStudiosTour has now closed. I used to like having a walk down Coronation ...

Great place to eat out in, on Wilmslow Road or just down your China town, where you can find exotic foods at reasonable prices. There are a great variety of different cultures in Manchester, which is reflected in the different restaurants.
They have the universities (University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan, UMIST, Salford University) and therefore this city is ideal for students. There is loads of live entertainment, with bands frequently performing at the Manchester Evening News arena.
Also check out the Palace Theatre, where they have some great performances. Again, at reasonable priced.
You can visit GranadaStudios, which is a good day out. They have some good rides, and can go on a guided tours around the famous ‘Coronation Street’. If you’re a football fan then you can go down to Maine Road or Old ...
