Advantages: Central Location. Disadvantages: Red-light district!
...after nightclub with the odd bar chucked in between for good measure!
Union Street is literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel from door (to the right). Although a on the corner of Union Street and The Crescent (the road to the right of the hotel) there is a Weatherspoons bar which I believe is very good.
Non of the nightclubs have been personally tried and tested so I cant say which are good or not! There is a larger nightclub out of town slightly, you will need to use your car, which is next door to a cinema and a pub opposite. It is possible the biggest club in town…you have been warned!!

The low-down.
An interesting hotel with many different things to see and do, for all interests, in the city and in a good central location. There is also the Plymouth Registry Office...

Advantages: Copthorn price. Grand Decor Disadvantages: Copthorn location. Grand price.
...I have stayed in two hotels in plymouth. First the Copthorn hotel and then this year the Grandhotel on the sea front. I stayed at the Copthorn first because it was closer tothe university which I was visiting.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at both the hotels I visited. The only problem in the Grand was the bar. Although always open it was not always manned. The bar in the copthorn was alot bussier so was always manned. Both of the sets of rooms stayed in were exceptionally clean and well made. The Grand was in a more traditional style, which I though would suit the older visitor. The copthorn more modern in general design.
I ate in both the hotels, and have since ate in the copthorn again on a sunday. Both the meals were delightful, although differed considerably in price.
The staff in both hotels were perfect and always helpful...

Advantages: Interesting. History. Maritime Flavour. Good Shops Disadvantages: Can get very busy. Prices can get high in touristy areas
..., Virgin and specialist shops. There are plenty of street cafes, children’s play areas, a goodly array of seats for weary shoppers, fast food outlets , verdant floral displays and as befitting a waterfront city, fountains and other water features.Plymouth is a major regional shopping centre and attracts shoppers from neighbouring parts of Devon and Cornwall.
Accommodation in this city includes a number of good 3 and 4 star hotels, cosy, guest houses and very welcoming and comfortable bed and breakfast establishments.Among the well known hotels are The Bowling Green at the Hoe, Browns Hotel, The Cranbourn and the 3 star GrandHotel.
The dining out scene in Plymouth is good-apart from the usual fast food joints such as four branches of Kentucky Fried Chicken, three branches of McDonalds and two Burger King outlets, there are old English...
