As anyone who has read my early reviews knows- I love Italy! I've been going there now for the past ten years with my parents, and for the first time last year I made my own way there with the boyfriend for a nice Italian holiday. The GrandHotel Excelsior was my residence for numerous weeks holiday, and it certainly not one for the faint hearted! In the Thompson guide book it is described as 'quaint' which to put it politely is rather an understatement. One thing that can be said for it is it is completely oozing with Italian charm.

Once you arrive from the airport after the 2.5 hour flight to Croatia you pull up outside the HotelPark & from the front of the hotel it looks very big & quite sophisticated. There are about 5 steps up to the reception, which is quite difficult when you have to carry your own luggage. Once you are at the entrance of the hotel you are faced with a large open space. The nice thing about most of the hotels in Las Vegas is that the parking is free. We drove there and found our way to the MGM hotel where the car park was clearly signposted. We then made our way to the lobby of the hotel which as extremely impressive. You have to remember than most of the hotels in Vegas are huge and this one is no exception. The main hotel has 5,044 rooms as well as different sections of the hotel that house nicer suites, lofts and villas.
The lobby had more than 20 people on reception so check in was quick and easy. The most impressive thing was the flower displays, all real and hundreds and hundreds of roses.
