Advantages: close to bus station Disadvantages: deceptive hotel website pictures create a disappointment when visiting this small hotel
...Firstly the photos of the hotel and room are quite deceptive; the Carlton Grand Canal Hotel is a crummy looking hotel with tiny rooms but apparently this is to be expected in Venice- it is also useful to note that there are many dilapidated looking buildings facing the canals and this is becuase the owners are reluctant to spend vast amounts of money on restoration as the canal facade detriorates rapidly from the harsh elements (salt water etc). However this shouldn't deter people from visiting this beautiful city. The ensuite washrooms were not impressive with black mould round the bath. Staff can be unhelpful. On a positive note the breakfast was good. It would have been useful to have board games or pool table in the hotel as some afternoons can be very very hot and it is common for shops to close for the siesta- when travelling...

Advantages: Next to subway, In a great shopping street Disadvantages: Not english breakfast
...For those accustomed to traveling to Milan, you will know the importance of finding a location that is central, easy to get to, and close to the underground subway system. On my last trip to Milan I chose this hotel and I have to admit it satisfied all 3 criteria.
The hotel is situated in one of Milan's most popular shopping streets Buenos Aires, having such stores as Terranova, Benetton, OVS and many many more just paces away. As far as getting to the hotel is concerned, whether you're coming from Malpensa or Bergamo airport there is always a shuttle bus which takes you to the grand central station. From there it is a simple matter of using the underground to get to the stop right next to the hotel which lies on the red line at the stop named 'Lima'. You will have to hop onto the green line to 'Loreto' to switch to the red line. You...

...We stayed at the MASSIVE MGM Grand for a few days this time last year.
The MGM Grand, guarded by a 45-foot-tall bronze lion statue has 5,005 rooms and used to be the largest hotel in the world, a claim recently stolen by the Ambassador City Jomtien hotel in Thailand with 5,100 rooms. It's still the largest hotel in North America, although I think this will soon be stolen by George Clooney's Vegas hotel development...
(While we're on the subject of large hotels, 17 of the 20 largest hotels in the world are in Las Vegas ! So even if you don't stay at The MGM Grand, odds are you'll be staying somewhere big...)
The MGM Grand is part of the MGM Mirage group, that also owns, among others, The Bellagio, The Mirage, Treasure Island, New York-New York (just across the street) and Beau Rivage hotels/casinos in Vegas.
The first thing...

Strictly speaking I myself have to regard this review as "Off Topic" as the Grand has not been part of the Best Western group for some years. However, as Ciao emailed me the following message, I see little alternative to publishing it... more
We stayed at this hotel after booking a cheap 'new route' flight via Easyjet. The hotel has a feeling of being in an Agatha Christie novel with a certain shabby chic and some interesting people-watching moments - wealthy Europeans and Americans. Service... more
