The stairs Review ofTour Eiffel, Parisby

Advantages: See Paris and suburbs from the top Disadvantages: Well ... you have to pay
...Last sunday I dated a girl that I met on Ciao France. We broke yesterday by the way ... We decided to go to the Eiffel Tower after having a drink at a café. Then, I said to her : "That's cheaper and fun by the stairs." She was not really enthousiastic but we paid the ticket ( 3,3 euros each, 12 euros by elevators ) and begin to go upstair.
The first time I go up the tower I was eleven. I remember that was boring. Sunday, this was my second time in seventeen years.
I have to say that I focused on the girl and not really on the landscape, but I watch some little things from the first floor and second floor.
- L'Arc de Triomphe ( very small )
- Notre Dame ( very very small )
- La Seine
- Le petitet le grandPalais
- La Défense ( Trade Center )
- Montmartre and Le Sacré Coeur
So, it's very cool if you go there for the landscape...

Advantages: Magnificent building, cheap entry fees, in the middle of a beautiful city Disadvantages: There's none. you have nothing to lose everything to gain.
...the beauty of the palace lies when you are outside, facing this huge and magnificent building. Next to the Palace, there is a smaller building called "Le petitPalais" the small palace, where you can see some nice painting of artist (mainly Italians) from the 12&13th century. Again, if it's not your thing, the "Rocher des doms", behind the Palace, is a very nice park on top of a rock with beautiful views of the Rhone river, the famous Pont d'Avignon. And further away, the beautiful landscapes of Provence. Definitely worth going.
Overall, the "Palais des Papes" on its own isn't worth a trip from UK, (the city of Avignon and its beauties definitely is) but if you are in the area, it would be foolish not to see it.
(Being Born in Avignon, I know pretty well the area and will be more than please to help any of you who want to plan a trip in the area.)...

Advantages: small city Disadvantages: small city; full of EU & corporate types
..."Nice" city; rather vanilla in flavour. Suggest that stay for no more than 2 days. Spend one day in the centre - grand place good but rather expensive - worth a visit in mid August to see the flower display in the Grand Place (every other year - next one 2002); get there the first couple of days otherwise the flowers start wilting.
Mannequin Pis a complete waste of time. Other places of interest: Palais du Justice, Africa Museum (Tervuren), Nepoleon's last HQ (Waterloo). Foret de Soignes is good place for a walk in the summer - don't forget the blue bell forest.
Much nicer places to visit around Belgium - Bruges, Ardennes, Liege, Namur.......
