The WaldorfAstoria, An iconic, Landmark Hotel. This hotel has been in many films, so....I suppose I should be saying wow. My husband and I visited New York in the February of 2005. I was treated to a stay at the WaldorfAstoria. When we entered the hotel, I was.......blown away. The entrance is plush, extravagant yet elegant, with a pianist playing music, for those that wish to sit and enjoy a drink and just take in their surroundings. The reception area again was stunning. That unfortunately is where the glamour of it all stopped, during our 10 day stay, I lost count of how many times their \"systems were down\". Checking in therefore took an age. Advantages: 5 Star hotel in central location Disadvantages: Some areas could be improved upon
with Hilton (theWaldorfAstoria is now owned by this chain) and managed to get a good deal, which resulted in staying a night free of charge. The fact that we had booked via a third party did concern me a little, as it's something that potentially could so easily go wrong, but we checked in without any problems and happily trundled off to our room, which we'd been told had recently been renovated.
The room was good and suited our purposes completely, as we hadn't anticipated spending a long time in it: our trip was purely for sightseeing purposes. However, for a room which had been recently renovated we were disappointed to notice that the curtains weren't in the best state of repair.

My wife and I visited New York in March 2007 and stayed for five nights in a Junior Suite at The WaldorfAstoria. We had read a few indifferent reviews of the Waldorf on various websites before booking, but this was our first trip to NYC and we wanted to stay at The Waldorf. We wanted to stay there because its such a famous hotel and also because its in a great location to see New York from.
On arrival, we had a slight queue but were greeted by a very pleasant female member of staff who checked us in very efficiently and told us all we needed to know. On being booked in, you cannot help but notice the fabulous lobby which is a city attraction in itself.
