I work in the City and needed somewhere to stay after my other half's Christmas party and I am so pleased we chose to stay at the Grange!
From the moment you walk up to the huge glass doors you can't help but be impressed. As you walk into the enormous reception the first thing you notice is the extravagance and the attention to detail. The main reception desk is an oval shape in the centre with 4 or 5 members of staff constantly working and there is seating and tables scattered around the edge with copies of the days newspapers. There are doors which lead to the restaurant and bar and at the other end of receptions are 4 or 5 steps which lead to function/dining rooms and lifts to the rooms.
The rooms themselves can only be described as indulgent - when you first open the door you are greeted by expensive, and, more uncommonly from my experience of hotels, clean carpets. The bed was huge with a number of comfortable pillows, there was a sofa, a desk with an LCD television which receives the standard channels 1-5 as well as a couple of sports/music channels and an interactive service which enables you to make your own music playlist or play games etc.
The bathroom was gorgeous (are you seeing the common theme yet?!) with white tiles on the walls and lovely black granite floor tiles. There is a toilet as well as a separate bath and shower all of which are clean and well maintained and you are provided with the usual selection of shower gels/shampoos etc.
I did not get a chance to use the gym facilities but did walk past and see them and it looked very well stocked with the usual array of treadmills, rowing machines, free weights etc.
When we went down to breakfast the following morning you could choose between continental and English breakfasts and I would highly recommend the latter - although be warned, there will be a small surcharge for this.
I can not comment on the price because my girlfriend's company is linked to the hotel and gets a corporate discount but a quick glance at the website showed a range of special offers with rooms starting at £51 per night. Overall, I would highly recommend the Grange Hotel to anyone looking for a high quality hotel in the City of London.
