...fish, chips and beer then Granville Island is for you. Granville Island is located under the Granville street bridge next to false creek (another great place) equipped with its own brewery (some of the best local beer available) and loads of restaurants serving every type of fresh fish (and I mean fresh as in caught that day) locally caught and fish mongers (mmmm fresh fish) to take the catch of the day home with you. The restaurants are situated ... ...dinner. All the restaurants on Granville Island are of top quality and the food is second to none. Also along Granville Island is a Massive Toy store where kids and adults can run and play with loads of stuffed toys or even just around the corner is a rentals shop where you can rent some roller blades or a bike and just travel around Granville island or even just around the area itself. Granville Island has everything a tourist or local could ever ...

Advantages: scenic setting, great bar Disadvantages: difficult location by public transit
...I have not stayed in the rooms of the GranvilleIsland Hotel, so do not observe the ratings below as a reflection of the rooms. I have eaten in their bar, and I know the area well, so I am writing this review to help potential visitors who do not know the city of Vancouver.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Quaint GranvilleIsland has a massive public market where produce and prepared foods are available en masse. There is a thriving local theatre community in the summertime, and several great restaurants. In a way, it could be construed as a tourist trap, but residents and tourists alike seem to feel that there's good reason to flock there. The island is vibrant, safe, and welcoming. It is centrally located in Vancouver's downtown--between the trendy "West End" and the artsy Kitsilano.
THE BAR: An open-concept room with panoramic views...

VANCOUVER PUBLIC LIBRARY

GRANVILLEISLAND
With its Public Market, theatres, quirky boutiques and galleries, GranvilleIsland is Vancouver's cultural core and like Yaletown it is a rescued victor of an ugly industrial beginning.
GROUSE MOUNTAIN
Accessed by the 100 person capacity ‘sky lift and open 365 years a year, ‘The Peak of Vancouver’ is from November to March a winter wonderland alive with skiers, snowboarders, cross country enthusiasts, skaters and sleigh riders. In summer, Vancouver’s most famous mountain is replaced with walkers, relaxed day trippers and wildlife lovers who come to spot...

Advantages: Vibrant, busy and buzzing city. Disadvantages: For me, nothing special of note in the city
...with lots of shops and restaurants. Although the approach along Granville Street was long, it is in no way unpleasant as it is all very green and open. Eventually, one comes over a rise on the main road and catches sight of the downtown area in the distance over the bridges across the bay.
We stayed in an apartment hotel just off of Davie Street which is a busy, vibrant downtown area with lots of bars and restaurants, and only a short walk from the music clubs and bars. It is also a comfortable walk to Robson Street where most of the high end shops are situated, and to the waterfront, Canada Place and Gas Town. GranvilleIsland is quite close by car, but from our base the best way was a short walk to the water taxi.
GranvilleIsland was interesting with lots of markets and all varieties of very reasonably priced food from the entire range...
