Badaling Changcheng is in the countryside of Beijing City, it will cost you about 100-150 yuan to go there from the city centre of Beijing by taxi, which is worth about 8-12 pounds. The whole walk in Badaling Changcheng is normally take about 2hours, it does not count the time you spend to purchasing some product. But I highly recomend here, most of the goods selling in Badaling private stores are not real, so don't spend your money here, you will find some better products with a much cheaper price in other places in Beijing City.

Accually Badaling Changcheng is only a small part of Great Wall, the whole Great Wall is thoughsand of miles, there are totally four parts of Great Wall open for tourism, two of them in Beijing, one in Shanhaiguang ( which is the begaining part of Great Wall), and another part is not that famouse, located in south part of China. Badaling is not the best part of Great Wall for tourism, I prefer the one in Shanhaiguan, it is the newest one. However, I think Badaling is the most traditional one, it has not been rebuilt many times compare to other parts of Great Wall. You can ride horses on the Great Wall, also you could try the traditional sedan chair here, which is carried by four people to take you have a look around the place. The price is high, sometimes 100-200 yuan depend on the distance they take you wo talk, but its kind of experience though.

Great Wall has built about 2500 years ago, so you could imaging how people built Great Wall at that time, there was no machinery at that time, people carry those heavy stones by themselves. Thoughsands of people die in the proces of built Great Wall. At that time, China has been devided by 7 countries, the original purpose is to protect the attack from other countries, so the original look of Great Wall was divided by 7 prats. Then the first King of China in Qin Dynasdy has beatten other 6 countries, and China has became one country again. Therefore, he rebuilt the Great Wall, and makes the Great Wall becomes a whole part, as how it looks now.

You can still see many holes in Great Wall for attacking enemies, also there are many 'signal bases' which means people can make some signal fire to atract others attention in order to let them know that there are enemies, so they could prepare for the war. Different signal fire means different information depend on how heavy the smoke. Some information tell people, 'they have already beat the enemies', and some information shows that 'they need help'. This is generally how Great Wall works for war at that period.

Great Wall is the only attraction that people are able to see from the satelite, it looks like a huge dragon from the sky. It is also one of the most famouse attraction in worldwide. In Chinese slang, we say if you have never been Great Wall, you are not a real man. I believe that you will have a great experience in Badaling Great Wall.
