Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki
Advantages: A lot of sightseeings, 260 splendid rooms Disadvantages: None
In front of the sea in the most beautiful point of Thessaloníki you will find the hotel. It allocates 260 splendid rooms, most from them with amazing view on the Thermaikos gulf. It hardly abstains 2 minutes from the center of city. Also it is found very near to the HELEXPO exhibition center . You can enjoy the splendid food and all the sightseeings of Thessaloníki. You will calm down with a walk in the beach, you will admire the palace of music, ... ..., you will drink coffee in the knownest cafeterias of coastal, you will eat maize from the wandering salesmen. Enjoy also the genuine Greek skewer and the cream-filed pastry (kind of pie with cheese, sweet custard or meat). Try genuine trigona panoramatos and go to the "Athonos Park" with the traditional restaurants where you can eat authentic Greek and political recipes. Thessaloniki "The bride of the Thermaikos gulf", Good amusement!!! ...

Sofitel ....Heaven at Athens airport
Advantages: Luxury just steps away from the airport Disadvantages: That I cant stay there more often
Location:
########
Sofitel are a large chain of hotels across the world that are 4/5 star. I have only experience of the ones at Athens and Gatwick airports. The Athens Sofitel is the only hotel right on site at the airport. It is just across the road from the airport and is perfect for a transfer. All other transfer hotels are a coach ride away (Holiday Inn) or are in the town itself which is about 1 hour bus ride away.
I found details of the ... ...of the lifts with the Sofitel symbol endorsed on them.Landings are large with huge sofas and the lights in the hallways come on as you walk along just giving you the air of quality and that you are a really important person.
You enter the room into a hall way which is wooden floor and doors and subdued lighting. This is the only hotel that I have stayed in that has a seperate toilet to the bathroom ! A real bonus.
Bathrooms are large light and ...

Not King minos's palace but a nice family resort - Camari Gardens
Advantages: Reasonably priced, clean, accom, two pools, free sunbeds, free internet Disadvantages: A bit quiet for tennagers and certainly not clubs and bars bearby if you like that
WHERE IS THIS PLACE? Camari Gardens hotel apartments are situated in Gerani, near Rethymnon in Crete. This is a smallish family run resort with just 65 apartments and studios with 2 pools, a small playground, restaurant, reception/meeting area with book exchange library and a few electronic games and computers, a laundry, a small supermarket set in pleasant gardens overlooking the sea. http://www.camarigarden.com/main.aspx?lanid=English&pageid=Home ... ...through Thomas Cook holidays but prior to booking I read a lot of reviews on Tripadvisor. There were no really unfavourable comments about this resort and the vast majority were really positive so I chose this place on that basis. The holiday was a package including flights from East Midlands and transfers from Heraklion to the resort. In this review I will only concentrate on the resort rather than the Thomas Cook/ Airtours package (that is another ...

Lazy days at the Olvie Press Hotel, Lesvos.
Advantages: No mosquitoes on Lesvos, just very nice people at The Olive Press Hotel. Disadvantages: About a 2 hour transfer fron airport to resort, but a great journey.
...in sunshine, staying at The Olive Press Hotel in Molyvos, which is the north of the island.
The great thing about the island is that there are no mosquitoes……………..
The Olive Press Hotel, is set right on the edge of the sea, in fact the sea laps against one side of the hotel at night, which four elderly visitors had to complain about if only to us.
When we booked the resort and the hotel we where asked if we wanted a sea vies, a balcony or no preference, ... ...by the owner of the Olive Press and this is closed for the duration of the season, so no noise.
I read in the First Choice brochure that the rooms where small and we where not disappointed when we arrived to be shown to our room and it was on the small side, but very adequate for our needs. We had in the room a built in wardrobe, a small fridge, dressing table with stool, low table to put your cases on and a chair, plus two bedside tables so really ...

Blessed location, bad administration
Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Expensive, poor service, aging facilities
We stayed with our six-month old baby in August 2009 in a sea view bungalow. We booked in the hope that we could relax for a week, but this was not to be. We had a series of problems such as a non-functioning mini bar (despite our repeated requests it was never seen to.) Also our room was not cleaned even though we reminded them of it, and when they did they forgot to replace the towels. The worst part is that often on the weekends the restaurant ... ...for wedding parties and our weekend there was no exception. Even though they knew that we had a baby they never warned us about this (our room was 20 meters from the restaurant). Our repeated requests to the duty manager left us with vague replies that 'it will soon end' and this went on until 04:00 am. So, two consecutive nights with a restless baby and taut nerves. Take this into consideration as it can ruin your weekend - you can forget about ...
