The Green Hotel that even provided green mould!!

Advantages: None at all
Disadvantages: dIrty, cramped, badly organised.

journey was longer than normal as the driver got lost and it was 9.00 pm when we arrived at the hotel, after being on the road since 3.00 am - everyone was tired, crabby and hungry. The coach pulled up at the hotel, but we couldn't actually see it all we could see was a closed supermarket and a filling station. The driver got out and came back a few minutes later to say he couldn't get the coach in so he was unloading our luggage for us to take in. So we pulled and carried our belongings up a steep hill to the hotel, joking we said 'Hope there's a lift' - you've guessed - there wasn't !!!!! We all decided to leave our luggage downstairs while we got something to eat - but much to our shock, the restaurant was closed. Much moaning and groaning went on, we went to the bar - the people in front of us got the last bag ...

Hôtel Restaurant La Flambée -dine in style but bedrooms plain.

Advantages: Beautiful dining room
Disadvantages: Bedrooms adequate but not elegant.

We stayed at the Hôtel Restaurant La Flambée in Bergerac in November 2008 for two nights and enjoyed breakfast and dinner. What follows is an honest account as possible about the hotel as I can provide. Hopefully this may help if you are planning to visit this part of the world. We flew to Bordeaux but the most convenient airport for the hotel is actually in Bergerac as the hotel lies about 2 miles outside the town. Incase you are not familiar with this part of the world these places are in the main wine growing areas, and are in South West France. Flying time from the UK is about an hour and a half if you are flying from the London areas. Easyjet will take you to Bordeaux from Luton, likewise British Airways will fly you from Gatwick, and Ryanair will fly you from Stansted to Bergerac. This area is great as it is possible to use as ...

Review of Hotel Restaurant La Flambee, Bergerac

My favourite Turkish restaurant on Green Lanes

Advantages: Great food, quick, friendly service, inexpensive
Disadvantages: Can be crowded and noisy on weekend nights

INTRODUCTION Diyarbakir is a Turkish Restaurant on Green Lanes (A10), in the borough of Haringey, North London, a 7-8 minute walk from Manor House Tube station and practically seconds away from Harringay Green Lanes rail entrance. Undoubtedly, the densest Turkish restaurant population in London, if not, the whole planet, including Istanbul itself. I moved to this area in 2005 and my decision was mainly down to the great value restauration and the Mediterranean (Turkish - Cypriot - Greek - Middles Eastern) groceries having grown up on the stuff. THE RESTAURANT You can spot the trays of lovely, colourful daily stews from the street as they are displayed in the window. As you enter, the long chilled counter is on your left with a huge menu board overhead. The decor is simple, now repainted a warm yellow and red. Unlike ...
