Green Farm Hotel and Restaurant, Thorpe Market

Disadvantages: dIrty, cramped, badly organised.

...journey was longer than normal as the driver got lost and it was 9.00 pm when we arrived at the hotel, after being on the road since 3.00 am - everyone was tired, crabby and hungry. The coach pulled up at the hotel, but we couldn't actually see it all we could see was a closed supermarket and a filling station. The driver got out and came back a few minutes later to say he couldn't get the coach in so he was unloading our luggage for us to take in. So we pulled and carried our belongings up a steep hill to the hotel, joking we said 'Hope there's a lift' - you've guessed - there wasn't !!!!! We all decided to leave our luggage downstairs while we got something to eat - but much to our shock, the restaurant was closed. Located to the east of Leeds, located just 10 minutes from the Motorway it is in a great location and is hidden away of the main road providing a rural retreat. The hotel has an extremely fresh and modern appearance and does not disappoint inside, a vast car park with plenty of spaces that is complimentary for guests. You could always phone her majesty if you get stuck, I’m sure she’d have a spare room at Balmoral to ‘shack up’!! Although it can get cold here in the winter, in summer the Cairngorm mountains shelter Ballater & give it a rather pleasant climate. Ballater has 17 restaurants; some are listed below, one bank with an ATM, one Post Office & a medical centre. The biggest events in Ballater include Victoria week, Ballater Highland Games (The Queen attends the Breamar games in September) & Royal Deeside walking week.
