Advantages: Pleasant course. Good test of golf. Great facilities. Not too expensive. Disadvantages: EXTREMELY hot in the summer months. Course is over-watered.
village called Peschiera on the southern part of the lake, and were delighted to find a huge golfing holiday facility surrounding a new Championship golf course called Paradiso delGarda which only opened as recently as 2004. We chose a one bed roomed self catering apartment in the huge Golf Residence accommodation complex that surrounds the golf course, which includes four separate large blocks of apartments that are allied to the two luxury hotels in the complex. This gave us full use of the facilities of both the Golf Hotel Paradiso and the adjacent Parc Hotel, which included no fewer than half a dozen swimming pools, and a choice of other leisure facilities plus a couple of very good standard restaurants. (I'll review the hotel and residence separately from the golf course)

The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and all was very clean.
The staff were extremely friendly, and the people who manned the desk all spoke good English and were able to advise us on local places to go.
Locally there were a couple of wonderful restaurants serving fantastic food for reasonable prices, only a five minute walk from the hotel.
However, the hotel is situated slightly out of the town of Desenzano. This was not too much of an issue for us as we had a car and were not there in high season so could park easily in the town, but would be a 20 min brisk walk without.
On the plus side, Lake Garda was only across the road from the hotel and if you prefer peace and quiet the hotel certainly offers that.
In summary I would stay here again if visiting Desenzano ...
Advantages: tranquil and picturesque. Disadvantages: Erratic bus service
of Torri de Benaco only a few shops and cafes (perhaps explains why it seems so unspoilt), the traffic free town is nestled on the shores of the lake.

Beaches and Bathing
There is a good stretch of promenade to stroll along the shores, in parts it is lined with pavement cafes and restaurants, there are also park benches over looking the lake where one can sit and take in the view. At the most northerly end of the promenade is a pebble beach where one can bathe in the waters of Garda which are safe, clean and warm. The beach is popular but not overcrowded so one does not have to fight for a space. There is also a small town park near to the beach, with essential facilities such as toilets and a café.
For the more adventurous just north of Torri de Benaco is a sailing and windsurfing club open to the public ...
