Booking your trip is very easy and quick. Simply go onto the Greyhound Australia website and find the trip you want to do. You can do this by either entering the destinations you want included or by selecting one of the packages they already offer. You do not need to enter any dates for travel as this is flexible. Once your ticket is booked you will be sent a paper ticket which you need to keep safe as you need this to show to the driver on each coach journey. When you want to book in a date for a trip, simply log onto the website with your pass details, enter where you are going from and to and the date you want to travel and a list of times will appear on screen. There are usually quite a few times throughout the day so you won't have any problems getting the day you want. You can book as late as up to the day before and once you have entered the time of the coach you want you simply turn up where they tell you to and you will already be on the driver's list. You can easily cancel a coach trip that you've booked simply by logging into your pass and pressing cancel next to the required slot.
The coaches are big and bright and you can't miss them. Depending on where you are travelling to and from, if they are popular stops then the coach is more than likely to be full up. Occasionally they'll give you a seat number but more often than not they don't so make sure you arrive at the bus station early so that you can find the best seat for yourself and so that you're near your friends. There are regular stops roughly every 2-4 hours - whether it's at a small shopping centre or an early morning stop in a highway 24 hour cafe, they're all good stops that offer hot and cold food and a break from the coach as well as toilet breaks (there is a toilet on every coach which are clean and good but I preferred to wait until we had a stop as I didn't enjoy the bumps of the coach whilst trying to go to the loo!). Most trips will play movies (unless the driver is really grumpy) but there is usually only the one small screen at the front of the coach. If the coach is a big one then they'll have another one about half way up. If the coach is packed with people however, it can be difficult to hear the movie but each seat does have it's own volume control as well as an air conditioner and a light.
Our passes cost only £161 each which took us from Melbourne all the way up to Cairns. That covers almost the whole of the East Coast travelling a total of over 3,800 kilometers!
If you just want a simple coach journey that gets you from A to B quickly and easily then take a look at Greyhound.
Advantages: Australia-wide coverage, comfort Disadvantages: Long travel times, no onboard entertainment
Greyhound buses is the main bus service in Australia that covers all the major destinations, with several stops between destinations.
The seats are reasonably comfortable with adjustable backs so you can stretch out a bit. With the chairs, if you push them too far back, you may actually take up the leg space of the person behind you. Each seat has overhead lights as well as adjustable fans to control the direct of airflow.
Over the course of each ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Greyhound Buses"
While being in another country it is always a good idea to find out about the different travel methods, as you never know when you might need to use them. I had first heard of the Greyhoundbuses through watching American TV shows as they sometimes mention it but it had never really meant a lot to me. It wasn't until I was travelling the west coast of North America that I came across the idea that I needed to get places and do it cheap as well which is when I googled Greyhound. To sum them up they are basically like the North American version of Megabus, cheap travel and an okish service.
I first ordered with them through the website because it was easier to do, they do travel through Canada and America and I was booking a journey from Vancouver to Whistler which is roughly about an hour and a half. It is best to book in advance as ...

Ilkeston Co-op in Nottingham this worked perfectly it was Virgin Airlines and apparently on time and very comfortable.
Concerning the form of travel across the USA Jo (thats my daughters name)looked at GreyhoundBuses but inspite of the cheapness we were advised against it by our American friends because the bus stations tended to be in the more run down areas of town, and arriving in the early hours of the morning they were not the ideal places for a single person to wander around in.
After searching the Internet for other forms of transport not costing an arm and a leg Jo chose Amtrak one of the American train companies which for about £50 more for an open ticket gave her a far more comfortable and secure form of transport with superb views and large stations in the major cities.
Concerning cheap places to stay on her travels Jo found by ...

There are two major towns, Charleston the capital and Beckley. ***UPDATED: Huntington is actually the second largest town, although I have not visited it so cannot comment on it.****
Between these two semi-civilised places are hundreds of tiny towns. The small towns have little or no restaurants or nightlife- you have to travel to one of the bigger towns. Greyhoundbuses run between Beckley and Charleston about twice a day, but they only travel to a small selection of the smaller towns once every few days. Taxis are non existent in small towns and there aren't many train lines. If you are holidaying there, stay in a larger town and take excursions from there. If you stay in a small town and the weather turns, you may be ...
