Advantages: Could not be better positioned at the heart of Coniston. Disadvantages: Service was slow but friendly.
We recently spent a few glorious days walking in the Lake District and had forgotten just how beautiful it is there. Based in Coniston and renting one of the Coppermines cottages we had plenty to do during our short stay including walking up the Old Man of Coniston - thats a mountain by the way! - We also spent one day walking from Lake Coniston up into the hills to Tarn Hows which is a simply lovely mountain lake surrounded by hills and woodland.
On the way back it started to rain just as we got into Coniston and so we ducked into the Yewdale Hotel and decided to have a couple of drinks and dinner while we waited out the rain.
This review is therefore for the restaurant only.
The hotel is a Victorian stone and slate building right at the centre of Coniston in a prominent position near the bridge and over the road from ...
Advantages: A historical building Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners
CASTLE LODGE

After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. We were all in high spirits and enjoying our food and refreshments, I dropped the bombshell that I wanted to see the house, they did try to dissuade me as they were now getting slightly tired and wanted to do a little retail ...

Advantages: Nice lodges, fantastic hot tubs! Disadvantages: Surrounding area not so good
Drummohr Lodges are situated on the Firth of Forth, near Musselburgh, Scotland. The park is approx 8 miles from Edinburgh.
I came across Drummohr Lodges while browsing through the Hoseasons brochure last year. I was looking for somewhere new to visit for a short break with my partner for his birthday in November, and having stayed in a few Hoseasons holiday parks previously and always finding them to be really nice, I didn't really want to look elsewhere.
We do like to stay in lodges, preferably ones with hot tubs! So this was a particular requirement when looking through the various holiday parks in the brochure.
We decided on Drummohr Lodges as we thought it looked nice and was also not far from Edinburgh which we wanted to visit. Plus, some of the lodges also had hot tubs! So we booked a Mon - Fri break.
