Advantages: Unique, excellent music Disadvantages: Cooler than thou
...The Medicine Bar, Digbeth is the focal point of the Custard Factory cultural centre. It offers a buzzing combination of live acts and DJs playing Hip-hop, deep house, funk etc – basically anything with a groove! Drinks are reasonably priced for a city centre bar (£1.50 a pint of lager) and admission is usually free. On occasional Sundays the venue scales new heights by opening up the whole of the Custard Factory and draining the man made lake to provide a huge, sunken, open air dance floor. I saw Adam Freeland, a nu-skool breaks DJ there and despite the rain and wind he packed out the floor....

Advantages: Authentic S. American feel Disadvantages: Only for Salsa dancers
...The Salsa Club is a fairly unattractive venue.
Drinks are overpriced, although less so than at some other london clubs.
The problem is, every night the room divides into those who can Salsa (often foreign)and those who can't (Usually about 50/50).
Yes they run early evening Salsa Classes but it will take you more than a couple of lessons to get up to speed.
The 'professionals'are very good to look at, until you realise that you can't dance with them or really get in the groove.
If you can Salsa, you'll have a blast. If not, allow me to suggest the infinitely superior Bar Rumba, 2 mins down the road (on Shaftesbury Avenue)...

Advantages: Fantastic Music, Sound and lighting Disadvantages: None
...If you are into clubbing, then I throughly recommend that you go to Vinyl, which is 6 Hubert St NY. On Friday night you will find the DJ's, DJ Dany Tenaglia and on Sunday night you'll find the world famous Body and Soul hosted by Francois Kevorkian. Both nights are completly different entities. Friday is hard and heavy, deep minimalistic tribal grooves and Sunday is sweet and soulful. The club itself is not a large anonymous place, it's quite intimate, which is all the better, with a crisp clear sound system. Lighting is also spot on! If you want to go on Friday, get there for about 11pm and If you want Boday and Soul get there around 3pm (in the afternoon, the club finishes at midnight). Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!...
