For the Chinese, Guangzhou is the paradise for dining in the olden days. A lot of famous restaurants made their names in Guangzhou before they open shops in Hong Kong and Macau, such as the steamed milk dessert and the wonton noodle.
ok, back to Guangzhou, it is a wholesalers paradise. there are many different district selling all kinds of goods. Just name it and you will find it in Guangzhou.
You can find rolls and rolls of shops selling fabric, clothings, accessories, electronics components, hardware supplies, computer components, printing services, beauty goods, shoes, pets, jewelry, mineral rocks, toys.... As for the toys, most of them are licensed toys too. I do not really know they are real or fake but they are a really good deal. Of all the goods, it is divided into different districts. They all gather together in one or two streets and you can easily shop and bargain. It is better to have your information ready. Although there are so many things the shops are offering, the crowded street, the messy traffic will scare you off. The shopping atmoshphere is not too good. but price wise, it is no question one can get a very good bargain.
One can also visit the branded universities. There is a area where you can find most China's famous branch school here. The new exhibition center is worth a look on the outside. the building is great but there are a lot of rooms for improvement in the inside. I went to the exhibtion show one time and find out that there is no carpet in some area and left the wires exposed, which easily knocked over some visitors.
The latest time for the returning bus from Guangzhou to Macau is around 7pm. So it is difficult to catch a formal dinner before taking off. I do recommend a brazilian buffet close to the Garden Hotel. it is around $60 Yuan per person. There is not much in the buffet bar, but there are some sambra dancers coming out from the kitchen with the barbarcue chicken wings and fried bananas ready to serve each of the customer. The dancers only come out after 6pm. there is really little time to enjoy if you need to go back on the same day.
It is a place that you will love and hate. But Guangzhou still has a lot to discover, more next time.

Guangzhou was one of the most busy city in China. You can find many foreigners from many countries here. Most foreigner here do business with Chinese or other countries businessman, it's just because Guangzhou is a modern city with many fabric run around here, so you can find stuff here is cheaper than other big city. Lost of Indonesia and India, even Africa people here run their own shop or company, and you can easily find a mandarin translator ...
