Now perhaps I am biased, but this was one of the best tours I've taken.
St James Gate is the entrance to the brewery; the gate is enormous, with big letters spelling out its name. A real photo opportunity.
The brewery looks like a big factory, but inside you find that the building gets larger the higher up you go, just like a pint glass!!
When you walk in, you are directed to the center of the floor, where you see the original signed lease for the building. Everyone is given a clear token with a drop of Guinness in the middle - save this, as you will need it at the top to get your 'free' Guiness.
There were a lot displays of all the ingredients, machinery, and demonstrations of the processes by which Guiness is brewed. There was no tour guide, you simply follow arrows and work your way up the floors to the top of the building, it was very self explanatory.

I really liked the fact that you could take it all at your own pace.
After going up the final glass lift and you enter the top floor - the Gravity Bar.
This 'floor' is a completely circular room, with floor to ceiling glass walls. From here you can see all of Dublin. With the sea to the East and the Mountains to the West, it really is an awesome spectacle. And to top it off, whilst up there you get your complementary free pint of Guiness to enjoy while you take in the view. The view was fantastic and enhanced by the glass of Guiness in its true home!!.

Advantages: free pint at the end, you can say you've seen some Irish culture Disadvantages: not a lot to see
Whilst in Dublin for our girly weekend, we thought it would be criminal if we didn't visit the Guinness Storehouse. Opting to do this as part of an open top tour of Dublin on an averagely chilly Sunday morning, we waited paitently for the tour to reach our destination. In our haste we tried to get off the bus too quickly, and the tour guide decided to make fun of us, but in our embarrassment we soon realised that half the tour bus emptied out at ... ...there for the same reason.
The bus dropped us off in the middle of an industrial estate, and I found myself wondering if we were in the right place as it looked desolate, but soon found as we turned a corner, there was a nice big entrance showing us the way in to the black stuff.
Being a Sunday morning we thought it would be fairly quiet, but the queues were really long. Patiently and still hungover we waited in the queue, wondering if we would ...

Advantages: Good, Clean, Family fun, educational and midly entertaining...FREE PINT TOO :D Disadvantages: Dull in parts, was not what i was expecting
...to the birth place of Guiness was on the cards.
Prior to Dublin, i had only ever had one pint of Guiness in my life. About a week before my trip, i had one simply to see if i could handle it, as I assumed i would be drinking alot. It turned out, i couldn't. Infact you might have said it was absolutely disgusting. We all agreed on this point.
Nevertheless, i still wanted to go to the brewery, just because...well you know..to say I'd been. The price ... ...get your own drop of guiness to take home with you.
As you go in, you are treated to various displays of all the ingredients, machinery, and demonstrations of the processes by which Guiness is brewed. The tour is self guided, you follow the arrows and work your way up the floors to the top of the building. To be fair, most of this is pretty boring. Although i hear it has been recently refurbished, there are very funky lighting effects and a very ...

Advantages: Free pint of Guinness! Disadvantages: A bit dull in parts
I have recently returned from a trip with my girlfriend to Dublin. While over there, we made The Guinness Storehouse (Museum & Brewery) our top priority for an attraction to visit.
I actually felt a little bit concerned walking up to the Storehouse, as it seemed to be quite deserted and it appeared as if we were walking through a Victorian industrial estate! However saying all that we went through the entrance where we found plenty of people waiting ... ...in was (in sterling) around £7 for concessions or £11 full price. For that you gain access to the museum, a paperweight with a blob of Guinness, a map and a free pint of the black stuff, or a soft drink if you so choose. The six-story museum itself is very interesting in parts, but in others it is dreary. It is a self-guided tour, in which you follow the arrows around and then up each floor until you reach the Gravity Bar (more of that later)
What ...

Advantages: interesting and excellent value for money - great view! Disadvantages: none really!
The Guinness Museum (now known as the Guinness Storehouse) is based in the original fermentation plant on the St James's Gate site in Dublin, Ireland. The building in which the exhibition is based was a working building for Guinness as recently as 1988, although the exhibition itself is far more recent than this, having been revamped within the last year.
As you walk in to the exhibition the first exhibit on display is the original lease signed ... ...the exhibition stands. The original lease for the site is for 9,000 years, but I'll not spoil the surprise and let you visit the museum for yourself in order to find out why that was!
The exhibition itself consists of displays on a number of different floors giving details of the ingredients and processes used in brewing Guinness, the people involved and various titbits of history. The displays are striking and well put together and involve video, ...

Advantages: Pull your own pint Disadvantages: The price...if you come from a Euro country
I've always been a big fan of Guinness. During my first trip to Dublin i decided not to go to visit the Guinness Brewery because coming from an "Euro-currency" country, the entry price looked a bit too high to me. I regretted it immediately and on my second trip to Dublin, last March i decided to give it a go. (also i booked online and I managed to save money on the price of the ticket). Our visit to the brewery took place on the best day of the ... ...day. On this special occasion it was possible to have, amongst various samples of different Guinness, free oysters.
The visit starts from the bottom floor where you can see/touch/smell all the ingredients that will form the black stuff. Then it goes up from floor to floor showing facts, history and curiosities about this world wide famous drink.
Be careful not to miss the chance to pull your own pint (and have a certificate to show this skill!) ...
