As it was coming up to my daughter's 3rd birthday I decided to take her to Gulliver's World in Warrington. I knew it would be better suited to her than the likes of Alton Towers etc as it caters for the very young.
When we arrived we noticed it was £10.30 for Adults and also £10.30 for children, however children under 90cm were free. My daughter was a little over 90cm so we had to pay the £10.30. I was a little annoyed at this, however I realised that we had paid £9 for a wristband a month ago at Knowsley Safari Park for unlimited rides, so it wasn’t too bad. Plus the majority of the rides were catered for her age range.
We had arrived at lunch time so decided to get something to eat. After waiting 20 mins to be served (only 1 couple in front of us!) we decided we’d try somewhere else later. Little did we know we’d later come to regret that decision.
After going on a few rides we decided to try again for something to eat in one of the burger bars (In the Western part of the park). It took over 40 minutes to be served. There were 3 people in front of us. There were only 2 men behind the counter and they honestly didn’t have a clue what they were doing. I can’t remember the exact price but it was approx £5 for a meal and it was awful! This consisted of a burger, small fries, small juice and half a corn on the cob. I definitely recommend taking a picnic with you if you decide to go.
After our meal it was time for the toilet, and what a disgrace they were! I cannot comment on the gents but the ladies’ were disgusting. There were 6 or 7 cubicles and each one was blocked. The chains wouldn’t flush either. We decided we’d try another block in another part of the park. Unfortunately these were exactly the same. I should have taken the time out to complain but I didn’t want it to spoil our day as it was a beautiful day weather wise.
Apart from the food and toilets we had a good day. The rides were great, apart from a time when we’d have to stand and wait for an operator to come to the ride as he was working 3 rides on his own! He was a little like the pied piper, with a queue of mice following him around!
We went on Saturday 2nd June 07 and were pleasantly surprised at how few people were there. Most rides we went on had a queuing time of nothing more than 15 - 20 mins and that’s if we had to queue at all. When queuing for one of the water rides (like a mini rapids but without the rapids) we had to be careful where we stood as there were nettles everywhere. Even on the ride itself we had to push them away!
I wouldn’t rule out going again as my 3yr old loved it, but I would definitely take my own picnic next time. I would also advise people with hay fever to ensure taking any medication with you as even I suffered a little with all the tree pollen.
