Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

Advantages: Genius comedy
Disadvantages: Not watched by enough

Greetings traveller. Garth Marenghi's Darkplace was a comedy series shown on Channel 4 in 2004. Created by Matthew Holness and Richard Ayoade, it's quite simply a parody of a so-called horror drama, based on the writings of the character Garth Marenghi - a 'horror writer', played by Holness. Set in the mid-80's, and based in Darkplace hospital in Romford, it evolves around Dr Rick Dagless M.D - played by Garth Marenghi (who, remember, is played by Holness!!) who has to fight of the forces of darkness, whilst coping with the day-to-day admin of running a hospital. As well as Dagless, the other main characters include Thorton Reed, played by Ayoade, Dr Lucien Sanchez played by Matt Berry, and Madeline Wool, played by Alice Lowe. Each episode includes 'commentary' from Marenghi and Dean Learner, played by Ayoade, as well as the actor ...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...

The Inn and I

Advantages: centrally located, reasonable room rates
Disadvantages: no parking, as it's on a main road some noise is possible

Having attended a conference here before in one of the conference suites, and having stayed overnight at the hotel a few month's ago, I felt it was time to post a review of the Inn on Ciao. ~ The location ~ Jury's Inn Croydon is situated on the A212, Wellesley Road in central Croydon. This is one of the busiest roads in the borough and the hotel is only about a ten minute walk from mainline East Croydon station and the smaller West Croydon station. There are numerous buses that stop virtually right outside the hotel, which serve south London, as well as several tramstops nearby making it easily accessible to Wimbledon, amongst other places. ~ On arrival ~ The hotel is only a few years old, and the exterior of the building is clean and modern. There are about 8 or 9 floors of bedrooms in this hotel, with the first floor ...
