We booked a last minute holiday to the Costa Adeje Palace Hotel at Easter this year. Having been to Tenerife before and stayed neared the centre of Playa de Las Americas I was looking for somewhere a bit quieter with good facilities. This certainely fitted the bill.
LOCATION It is the last Hotel in Costa Adeje before you reach Caleta. There is a lot of building work going on around but that didnt put us off. Indeed I think when I next go back which I intend to do maybe next Easter it might be too built up round about.
It could do with some shopping malls nearbly( to buy the obligotory perfume and girlie things) but I think this will be catered for in the not to distant future. It will certainely be an advantage. We needed some basics juice water etc for the children and my husband walked to the right of the hotel from the promendade as you came out the gate in front of the pool area. He walked past a little beach bar called Surfer (of course had to stop for a beer or two) and towards the Caleta area where he got what we needed. There is a great fish resturant there where you can watch the surfers.
If you walk in the other direction this will take you to the Playa Fanabe area but it is a good 20 minute walk away. You pass by some nice upmarket resturants and bars pricey though. 2 cointreaus and a beer cost £21!!!!
There is a coutesy bus several times a day into the centre of Playa de las Americas but I didnt like where it dropped you near the Veronicas. It could have dropped you nearer Parque Santiago where the nicer shops are. We went in a taxi there after beign dropped of
ACCOMMODATION
The Hotel has a moorish feel to it, it is painted a terracotta colour even the inside of the rooms. The rooms were spacious, with two large beds, bigger than singles but not quite a double and a single bed for a child. The balcony outside even has a curtain that you can draw for some privacy. My only critisism of the room was lack of shelves and drawers to put clothes. Indeed I filled in the form that had been left in our room by management and commented on this fact. About 6 weeks after we returned home I got a very nice letter from the manager saying he was sorry we hadnt enjoyed our holiday and to contact him if we wished to return. I was quite surprised as I hadnt indicated we hadnt enjoyed our holiday, but was pleased that the management cared enough to write to us.
There are 3 outdoor pools, a childrens pool and a jacuzzi. There is even a n indoor pool which the children used one afternoon when it rained. Towels and soft mattresses are supplied free of charge for use at the pool.
The are Tennis Courts, an area to play football, a play area for children and even a small putting green
There are a few shops inside the hotel selling newspapers. sweets, souviners and even fake Louis Vuitton and Guicci bags all reasonably priced!!
There is a hairdressers, beautician and gym if you feel energetic
ENTERTAINMENT This was excellent fot the children,we really got peace for an hour at night after the mini disco etc when they were taken to watch a video. The shows at night were entertaining, although I will never sit near the front again. The knife thrower who also useda agun pulled me up and made me stand with a male palce a balloon between us , stood with his back to us and fired at us using only a mirror to guide his shot. So beware if you go and he is there sit near the back!!! If that kind of thing is not your scene and you dont have children you can sit upstairs at the piano bar and even listen to someone playiong the saxaphone My 10 year old was of an age when he could join in with, waterpolo, football, archery etc he loved it and wants to go back.
FOOD This was the usual buffet service. There was a wide choice and on the whole the food was very good, although it does get a bit repetitive. Also with the children the were desperate to finish and join in the activities, mini club etc. Thus it was a case of eat and get out. To be honest if I didnt have chikldren with me I would probaly go self catering and eat out , just becasue that is part of the evening.
The pool bar during the day sold the usual hot dogs , toasties etc or you could opt for a lovely salad.
All in I would say it is a great place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of Playa de las Americas

Advantages: Nice and peacelful. Disadvantages: Could be too far out for families.
My husband and myself spent two weeks here last year and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. As the other reviewer said it is the last hotel before La Caletta, but nevertheless we were not put off by this.
The hotel was clean the staff friendly and the food was very good. The hotel also runs a shuttle bus daily to Playa de las Americas and bringsyou back if you like to shop!!!!!! otherwise if you like to walk it is ideal for a leisurely stroll.
