Advantages: Luxurious hotel spread over large grounds with great sea view Disadvantages: Secluded location - maybe too quiet for some
I have just returned from a week's rest at this lovely hotel and the worst thing about this holiday was the flight back .
The first impression on arriving at the hotel set the scene for the rest of the holiday. We are usually apprehensive as to what to expect when we arrive at a new resort but this was soon dispelled. Up to the room we went with the luggage trailing behind in the able hands of the bus boy. The room was quite large with a king size bed and sofa and armchair. The bathroom was the usual size but the separate toilet within did not have a door. Let it all hang out !! Plenty of space on the balcony with 2 comfortable chairs and table overlooking the southwest part of the grounds and the sea.

The first impression on arriving at the hotel set the scene for the rest of the holiday. We are usually apprehensive as to what to expect when we arrive at a new resort but this was soon dispelled. The reception area was spaceous and shiny bright , with a high arched ceiling and a piano being played over by the bar. The staff were superbly courteous and efficient .
The first port of call was the restaurant as we were half board and it was typically buffet dinner. There was plenty of choice which would appease even the most discerning diner .Plenty of tables but perhaps not enough staff . The food was very good and frequently replenished so it was fresh. Although the hotel was 5 star and deserved it , I would mark the food as 4 star.
Now down for the serious stuff . The bars were nothing special and the entertainment merited 2 star so we decided to venture further afield. There were a couple of bars across the road but we decided to walk down the prom to where the nightlife was in Faro. This takes about 20 minutes but is a pleasant stroll on the waterfront. There are mainly bars/restaurants with several shopping centres selling branded goods so her indoors was in her element !! The bars suited me.
As regards the area , the hotel sits on its own with a beach and cluster of restaurants which appear not to be visited by anyone other than hotel guests. Cheap taxis are the favourite mode of transport although there is a free bus to Faro . At the bus station in Faro ,we made several trips by bus to Playas del Ingles and Puerto Rica ( only cost 3 euros each way ).
There are 2 large swimming pools, (one heated, set in attractive gardens), solarium areas, sports area with 1 tennis court, sports ground, giant chess, darts and ping pong. There is also the Wellness Centre where there is a heated indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, water beds, gymnasium, sauna, Turkish baths, massages and independent changing rooms. Unfortunately there is a 15 euro charge here for up to 4 hours.
All in all , it was an excellent holiday as we are not night owls and prefer peace and quiet which we got plenty of .Incidentally the temperature was 30 degrees all week . Anybody drooling???
Advantages: Nice location Disadvantages: Infestation of Spider Ants and the incompitent action of the hotel staff
...are intending to stay at H10 Playa Meloneras Palace, Grand Canary. We booked a week break to stay at what we thought was a 5 star hotel arriving late on Saturday night we went straight to our room which looked very nice and was well placed in the hotel 5th floor and overlooking the pool. When we woke up the next morning we noticed that we were infested with tiny spider like ants all around the room, we went to the welcome meeting and informed the ... ...room whilst we were out, we found a load of these dead spider/ants when we returned so we thought this would be the last of the matter. Next day it got worse they were every where in our clothes in the safe everything we moved or touched these tiny little creatures were everywhere, again we reported it to the hotel reception and the holiday rep it was agreed that they would once again fumigate the room and wash all our clothes. Third day into our ...
