Myself and my partner have just returned from a week in the H10 Tabourente playa and thought that the hotel itself was brilliant, one of the best hotels ive stayed in. the only thing that let the holiday down is the lack of activities.
We booked the holiday through Thompson back in April and got a very good deal for a 4* hotel. when we arrived we had a 5minute transfer to the hotel (you can see the airport from most of the hotel rooms), reception were a bit slow in booking everyone in but the reception staff seemed very friendly and spoke excellent english.
The room itself was on the 4th floor so had good views of the pool area, a partial sea view and full view of the airport (which is ok as there are about 4 flights a day, last leaving about 9pm so minimal disruption). The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels for us, nice size too. There was a little hallway leading into a spacious bedroom with a comfortable double bed, table and two chairs, tv, desk and spacious wardrobes. there was
also a balcony with another table and two chairs. The tv had limited english channels (namely sky news and bbc news 24, i think) but it was ok as we didnt plan on spending much time watching tv.
The overall presentation of the hotel was very tasteful, when you go down the stairs to the reception and dining room (lift level -1), there are vines draping down the floors and a big waterfall with koi carp leading to the dining room, it is lovely and have had many a picture taken there. The hotel is also extremley clean.
The pool area is really spacious and plenty of sun loungers for everyone. The hotel has 5 pools altogether, including a childrens pool, a heated pool (the one next to the big pool) and a main pool with a walk in side. The pools are really clean and the area itself really relaxing with the sea breeze and the noise of the ocean against the rocks.
There is a bar and restaurant area next to the pool which serve various foods (e.g sandwiches, pasta, soups and bigger meals,) which are reasonably priced and very nice. They also sell cold drinks and beer. the coke is 2euros, beer slightly cheaper. There is a waiter service in this restaurant and the staff are very helpful.
There is evening entertainment 5nights a week which consisted of a male and female duo everynight which basically sang old spanish songs (there were alot of spanish guests there) and the odd english song but nonetheless they were very good. On the saturday night there were a BeeGees tribute act which were brilliant, had the audience dancing along and was a really good night. The drinks in the bar were a bit pricy though and there werent many drinks included in the all inclusive package.
The food in the hotel was ok, nothing special. Breakfast (7am-10am) consisted of the english breakfast menu, cereals, fruit and cold meats with hot drinks and juice/water. Dinner was 7pm till 10pm and was also ok, mostly consisted of fish in various descriptions and vegetarian menu was avaliable every night. there was also show cooking as you enter the restaurant which was mainly tuna steaks (very nice!!!), pork, lamb, that sort of thing. the restaurant area was spotless with room for everyone and room outside to eat with view of the sea which was nice, also a waiter service for drinks, again very friendly and good english.
Going slightly off topic now but I think its needed, outside the hotel there is a neighbouring hotel also in the H10 group, a small gift shop, a Spar supermarket and a scuba diving store. If you walked out of the hotel, to the left and carried on past the pharmacy, you will come to a bar called Tasca Alavasca which provided good evening drinks and a nice meal, wasnt too expensive either. If you go out the hotel, take a right, then first right you will come to a beach bar called Lambada, again really nice bar, reasonably priced drinks but we found that thats all there was to do on the island, Thompson do offer excursions around the island but its mainly tours consisting of looking at the country side and a whale watch with me needing leg opperation i couldnt really do anything but i did try out the 'roque de los muchachos' trip which is very highly recommended!
In conclusion, the H10 Tabourente playa is a lovely hotel, again one of the best ive ever stayed in. Really lives upto its 4* status. I just wish there was more to do outside the hotel. probably wouldnt go again due to the lack of stuff to do which is a shame as the hotel is lovely.
Hope this helps :)
