My second visit to a Group H10

Advantages: Good Location, only two years old
Disadvantages: Not many English in hotel

Well I am sure many of you have read my previous op on the H10 Med Village I stayed in in Salou. This was my second experience of staying in another Group H10 Hotel. We visited La Nina in Costa Adeje just two weeks ago so everything about this hotel is fresh in mind. On arrival to the hotel I thought it was a bit odd. Stuck in the middle of the main street with shops practically attached to the hotel and underneath it on a lower floor. Going into the reception area you just couldn't help but be amazed though. This looked like a classy hotel. Marble everywhere, a large reception desk on the right hand side, a large seating area and a massive winding stair case going down to the lower floor. Going in to the reception/entrance to the hotel you are going straight in on floor four. There are a total of 10 floors in this hotel ...

A Palatial Hotel fit for a Queen

Advantages: A wonderfully characteristic hotel
Disadvantages: None

Carmona is a town with a very long history and is situated about 30km east of Seville. It lies astride the NIV Seville-Cordoba highway so the town is very easy to find. The Alcazar de la Reina Hotel is situated in the heart of the old town. It's not hard to find as it's more than adequately signposted, but it's still a bit of an ordeal driving to it. The old town was not designed with the automobile in mind (in fact I doubt whether the wheel was even invented when much of this place was built!) and you must negotiate a torturous and convoluted route through the incredibly narrow streets and lanes (all one way). The streets are so tight, it could be quite hair-raising - I don't have much hair so I was alright. When we eventually cleared the claustrophobic streets, we found ourselves at one of the highest points of the town with a car ...

VILLA TURISTICA de PRIEGO

Advantages: Idyllic location, great for hikers
Disadvantages: Rooms are too warm and a little gloomy

(and had good AC) and the Villa Turistica de Priego is designed with the needs of ramblers in mind, rather than soft, lazy gits like me (my hill-walking days have long since taken a hike). Speaking of hiking, this place is ideally situated for that particular pastime with any number of trails leading directly from the hotel. In fact, I wish I'd known about it when I did do a bit of hiking, it would've been perfect Having said that, we really only wanted somewhere quiet, where we could lounge by the pool, have a nice meal, and perchance sink a few beers without breaking the bank. In that respect the hotel fulfilled all our requirements. And although I found the room to be on the spartan side regarding creature comforts, it was very clean and well looked after. So, if you're looking for some home comforts in a bright and airy room ...
