Advantages: location, services Disadvantages: no real bar, one perticular member of staff!
A booking through Air miles for my 21st birthday present from my sister consisted of 3 nights stay in the Taber hotel Barcelona. I was thrilled, Spain was a country I had always wanted to visit and my research through lonely planet and the internet showed the hotel to be very central and a lovely looking hotel. This was proven correct upon my arrival at the hotel, only a 3 star hotel however it offered everything I was expecting and to a high standard and for only £65 each (booked through Air miles is always a bit cheaper) for 3 nights I had nothing to complain about.
Arrival - Our airport bus dropped us off at the main square 'placa de catalyuna' which has Las Ramblas off one side (the main busy street) and La Rambla de catalyuna off the other (the street the hotel is off) a short walk up La Rambla de Catalyuna and we came across ...
Advantages: Lovely modern rooms & wonderful breakfast Disadvantages: Room slightly smaller than expacted
I went to the Regent Hotel in February 08 for a 2 night stay. I found the hotel after endless hotel searches in Ambleside which seemed to all bring up dated, old-fashioned looking hotels which weren't what we wanted. The Regent offered a refreshing alternative with modern looking bedroom, all recently refurbished. We paid £300 for 2nights bed and breakfast for 2 people.
The hotel was easy to find and was right near Lake Windermere as promised. We managed to park the car easily in the car-park, although we did notice that once everyone had checked in for the day the car-park looked rather full. It was only a short walk from where we parked to the reception, we only had small weekend bags but wouldn't have had a problem with suitcases.
The staff were friendly on arrival and were efficient and quick in finding our key and getting us to ...
Advantages: A beautiful setting with some amazing animals Disadvantages: Is perhaps overshadowed by other attractions
Whilst in Barcelona earlier this year we were looking for somewhere to visit that hadn't been on my tourist's agenda on my previous visits. Having spent a morning at the aquarium in the port are we headed for the Zoo. Located in the middle of the City it is well signposted in every direction and features as one of the main stops on all of the sightseeing tour buses routes. There are a couple of car parks located near to all of the entrances and again this is all well signposted from the city's main access routes.
Over the last couple of years we've visited a few Zoos and Aquariums and it would be fair to say that Barcelona is one of the biggest Zoos. Like many Zoos these days they are signed up to the World Zoo conservation strategy and are committed to breeding programs for endangered species. Having opened for the first time in ...
