A booking through Air miles for my 21st birthday present from my sister consisted of 3 nights stay in the Taber hotel Barcelona. I was thrilled, Spain was a country I had always wanted to visit and my research through lonely planet and the internet showed the hotel to be very central and a lovely looking hotel. This was proven correct upon my arrival at the hotel, only a 3 star hotel however it offered everything I was expecting and to a high standard and for only £65 each (booked through Air miles is always a bit cheaper) for 3 nights I had nothing to complain about.

Arrival - Our airport bus dropped us off at the main square 'placa de catalyuna' which has Las Ramblas off one side (the main busy street) and La Rambla de catalyuna off the other (the street the hotel is off) a short walk up La Rambla de Catalyuna and we came across the hotel seconds away from some of the more beautiful Goudi architecture in the city and a stones throw from the busy restaurants and street cafes of Catalyuna.
The exterior of the hotel is classy, modern and clearly displays the hotels name and star rating. On entering, the hotel is well air-conditioned and the marble flooring and comfy looking chairs are enticing.

The Rooms - Our room (a standard twin) was clean and comfortable with all the amenities promised. The bathroom a wet room of marble offering a shower and bath was more than I would expect from a 3 star property, in fact I've seen 5 star hotels with shoddier bathrooms!

The Services - The hotel offers a bar, which is a small seating area off the main reception, this unfortunately was only open for short periods of time in the evening and did not offer any drinks, not even a coffee, during the day. There are conference rooms which I believe to have previously been the 'mini gym' offered on the website and 1 stand alone computer offering internet however this has to be paid for on a pre paid card from reception, they do offer free Wi-Fi but it appears you have to have your own laptop for this. Breakfast however could not be faulted, offering fresh fruit, cakes, pastries, toast, cereal, meats and cheeses as well as plenty of juices, water, tea and coffee. They also had a menu card offering eggs, bacon sausages and the like.

The Staff - The staff were all found to speak very good English and to have the good manners to go with it, all the staff we encountered until the last day were very helpful and courteous. I say until the last day as we met one lady who seemed glad to be rid of us! We returned for our luggage after storing it before we left and the lady on the desk (Unfortunately I did not get her name) made sure she saw to us last, told us in a rather abrupt manner that we could not walk around with out our shoes on (as we had temporarily removed our flip flops whilst sitting in the waiting area, to ease our hot feet after lots of walking!) and called after us to find our own bags after she had opened the luggage room.

Expect for this one lady the staff were fantastic and I did not let this dampen my experience of the hotel as it provided more than I would expect from a 3 star hotel and was perfect for a getaway to the city, offering a excellent location and memorable trip.
