Halcyon Cove by Rex Resorts, St. John's

...This resort was really superb, just next to the sea. Really quiet depending period you travelling there. In October we were only 20-25 people. We got all-inclusive deal which wasn't ideal as most of the time we did all day excursion. The only good thing about all-inclusive a was very good (English) breakfast and twenty different cocktails!! The room got of course air-conditioned and really tidy. Hotel was not far from the centre town and taxis were always there to drive you around the island. Furthermore, it is possible to rent a car through the resort and do a lot of different excursions. The beach was simply great and private which was really great as not so much people in the resort... ...We recently spent a week in St Kitts at the Rex Papillon resort. It was an all inclusive resort and we were very impressed with the standard of the food and the variety offered each day, The staff were more than helpful and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived until we left. The island itself is very beautiful and unspoilt, but it is expensive to eat and drink away from the resort. Ther is very little shops and range from the usual tourist stuff or very expensive designer wares. Nothing for the in-between shoppers like myself. All in all though it was a wonderful holiday and we were sad to leave this lovely island and its people. One very worthwhile trip was the catamaran trip to Nevis. Party time all the way with a snorkelling stop and a picnic on a beautiful beach. Also the walk in the rainforest with guide Oliver... Read review

...This is a nice, comfortable 4 star hotel. It is very centrally located in the resort of Cala Galdana so if you like to people watch then get a sea view room and watch the world go by. In fact only get a seaview room because the rooms at the rear of the hotel are overlooked by a steep rock strewn cliff which casts a shadow all day. The resort is set in a beautiful cove with a wide cresent-shaped beach. The water as a consequence is very warm and calm. The cove is flanked on each side by cliffs that can be climbed quite easily to get a great view of the resort below. If you carry on in either direction a 40 minute walk will get you to the next coves along this southern coast of the island.
