...- Fourka.
Halkidiki is split into three penisulars, Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos. These are near the north of main land Greece and are surrounded by the Aegean Sea.
Kassandra and Sithonia are supposed to be the livliest of the three, although they are not busy or crowded.
Mount Athos is a Monks Republic and is usually only seen by people from sea.
Fourka is on the west coast of the Kassandra penisular. ...great pool/bar area, lovely gardens and clean/simple rooms (Kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and balcony), From wandering around the resort, I think most of the accomodation available in Fourka is pretty similar.
Fourka is home to quite a small selection of bars and restaurants, most of which are situated around The Plazza.
The Plazza is a square with grass, trees and flowers in the centre, a small road and car park and then bars, ... more
My boyfriend and I wanted a cheap holiday - a week in the sun where we could relax and do not a lot basically!
We booked an internet deal through Thompson Holidays for £190 each (incl. flights, transfers and accomodation) for a week in Self Catering appartments.
Our flights were from Birmingham to Thessaloniki (which is the nearest airport to Halkidiki). The flight took around 3 hours and we then had an hour and a half transfer from the airport to our resort - Fourka.

Fourka is on the west coast of the Kassandra penisular. We stayed in the Julia Studios, which had a great pool/bar area, lovely gardens and clean/simple rooms (Kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and balcony), From wandering around the resort, I think most of the accomodation available in Fourka is pretty similar.
Fourka is home to quite a small selection of bars and restaurants, most of which are situated around The Plazza. The Plazza is a square with grass, trees and flowers in the centre, a small road and car park and then bars, restaurants and a few shops surrounding.
The restaurants all provide pretty much the same cuisine, traditional greek food (Salads, Souvlaki (kebab), lots of Lamb and Veal dishes) along with options such as 'Steak and Chips' for those who are not to keen on trying the local fare. The prices are all reasonable - expect to pay around 30 to 45 Euros for a two course meal with a couple of drinks. I would recommend the two restaurants right on the beach on The Plazza, one specialises in Seafood and both were fantastic - great food and good value with a view of the sun setting over the sea which is feet away from your table.
The bars around The Plazza usually sell beers such as Amstel, Heiniken or our favourite, Mythos. There's always a wide selection of spirits and mixers - just remember the measures are alot more generous over there!! Most of the bar tenders are happy to make any cocktail for you - just let them know what's in it! Eros bar is definately recommended - it's art deco style is very trendy and the drinks are good value and the owner/bar tender is very friendly (even gave us free drinks on our last night!). There is a nightclub on the beach in The Plazza although I'm afraid it was not open while we were there.
The views in Fourka are either of a clear blue sea or beautiful pine clad hills. It is a very relaxing town and you really get a feel for the Greek way of life. We were there at the begining of June and it was quite quiet then, although we were told that it gets busier in the Greek holiday season in the middle of June.
The beaches in Fourka are sandy, although there are some stones as you get into the sea. It's worth walking down the beach as some areas are nicer than others - all are clean, but some are quite close to appartments and there's quite alot of seaweed in some spots! The sea is beautifully clear.
The only thing I think would improve the area is if perhaps some of the 'empty' areas were cleaned up a little - it seemed such a shame to see rubbish in wasteland on the way back to the appartments when most of the resort was so pretty.
If you want a relaxing holiday, then I would definately recommend Fourka in Halkidiki. If you are after a week of clubbing then it might not be for you! For the money we spent, it was a very good holiday and I would say that it is ideal for couples or young families.
Advantages: Beautiful, Cheap and not too 'Touristy'!! Disadvantages: Not much to do if you haven't got an imagination!!
...Halkidiki, on the Kassandra peninsula. Halkidiki basically consists of a three prong peninsula, a little like a trident that sticks out of Greece! The other two peninsulas being Sithonia and Athos.
Pefkohori is absolutely stunning. It is a small town which seems to have more of the local people around than actual tourists which is a nice, refreshing change.
The town has lots to offer including one of the best beaches in Europe which actually has ... ...and tavernas!! Nothing to see here I am afraid!!
However, as mentioned, I thorougly recommend Pefkohori, Halkidiki to couples and families, for a beautiful, memorable and relaxing holiday!!
The nearest airport is in Thessaloniki and the transfer time from the airport is approximately one hour and forty-five minutes. ...

Halkadiki 4th October – 11th October
As I have just mentioned I have just been on holiday to Greece, we booked our holiday through Kosmar (not to be mistaken for Cosmos) who are only deal in holidays in Greece, we booked the holiday about 4 months prior to departing and the cost for me ... ...for 1 week. We flew from Newcastle airport onboard air scandic, I have got to admit the airline isn’t the best of airlines (but I wont go into that now, watch this space for another op) and the flight times were early early morning and late evening departures but I wasn’t to bothered about that because it left us with a full day inbound and outbound. So, we stayed in the quiet resort of Hanioti, in the Dianysoss studios and they where ...

I went to Halkidiki this August with my cousin for a week. It ws very different to what i had expected. This is because i expected Halkidiki to be full of people who just want to go out and have a good time. However, there wasn't just those types of people, there were also couples with children, young couples, party people, old people and many more. There was literally every category of people that you can imagine. Halkidiki is an area to the north ... ...brilliant nightclubs and much more. Halkidiki is split into three peninsulas each offering unique experiences. The first peninsula is known as kassandra, this is where most of the young people who just want to have a good time going to the many nightclubs and bars. Kassandra offers water sports, fantastic beaches and great nightlife. The best places (the busiest) were Kalithea and Pefkohori. these both had fantastic beaches and good nightlife. However, ...

Lefkas, or Lefkada, as the Greeks call it, is perhaps the least well-known of the Greek Islands. This small island is the closest on to the Greek coast, and really isn't naturally an island at all. The Corinthians are said to have dug out a channel around the year 390BC, that made Lefkas an island and made it easier to defend. Today a causeway links the island to the Greek mainland and it is fitted with a swing bridge which lets the shipping traffic ... ...tourist until after 1968, when Preveza Airport was opened to tourists for the first time. There had been a lot of opposition to it before that time and the key figure in all this was Aristotle Onnassis, the Greek shipping magnate, who was the richest man in the world during the sixties. Basically, what happened was that he bought an island in Lefkas bay, called Scorpios, and build a mansion there for himself and his family. Various world dignitaries ...

My family and I stopped at these apartments for two weeks in July 2008. Niriides Apartments are situated in the resort of Hanioti in Halkidiki, Greece. They are self-catering apartments but there is also a choice to select bed and breakfast if you wish.
THE COMPLEX
There is a total of 18 apartments, all of which sleep up to four people. When we got off the coach at around 4:00pm, we were greeted at the gate by a very friendly Magda, who is the daughter of the family who run the place. We were shown where the lift was so we could carry our cases up to reception, which is located on the second floor. We were given our key and shown to our room. This was all done in a very friendly and helpful manner, and made us feel welcome straight away. Magda made it clear that if there was anything we needed, not to hesitate in asking ...

Hotel Nostos is situated just outside the small town of kalithea on the halkidiki peninsular of mainland greece.
My wife and I visited this hotel for our honeymoon (my first time abroad) and were pleasantly surprised by how nice it really was.
The hotel itself is not very large but makes up for it in a big way with the service, the site is run by a family (two generations at least) with the wife of the son being English, all the staff are very friendly and more then happy to engage in conversation with the customers, even those that do not speak very good English.
Everything about the place is immaculate from the the rooms which a bright spacious and airy to the garden area/poolside and the bar/restaurant, the pool itself was also very clan and welcoming.
The hotel is like I said situated just outside of kalithea (about 10 ...
