I am from Hamburg, Germany and I write reviews at the german version of Ciao. My english is getting better now. I´ll try to make less mistakes than I did in my two first reviews. Excuse my bad english and don´t read it! ;O)

In my account infos you can see that I am german and Hamburg is my hometown so I will write something about it. I love my hometown more than any other city in the world although is never almost so good as for example London. But I think so and many people call Hamburg as the most beautiful city in Germany and not Berlin. Berlin is besides the shopping a really dirty city. Hamburg has many sights to see. I will give you some examples:
->the Reeperbahn: The big amusement mile in "St. Pauli" with many bars and discos and sex shops (who ever needs this??). The most people think the Reeperbahn is just a mile of crime and prostitutes. Yes there is many crime and there are many prostitutes but you do not see it really. Everybody wants to party there. That is the thing you see there. Do not miss the "Kaiserkeller" at the "Große Freiheit 36" at friday and saturday night from 10 pm with alternative and independent music. Or next to the "Große Freiheit 36" you will find the "Grünspan" also with alternative and independent music.
-> the harbour: The port of Hamburg is the third biggest free port worldwide lying next to the Elbe. You can visit there amount of ships, museums, the "Speicherstadt" (Entrepôt city) and you can do many different conducted boat tours of the harbour.
-> the city: You can go shopping in the "Mönckebergstrasse" and the "Spitalerstrasse" and at the "Gänsemarkt". There you will find the best and most stores in Hamburg. If you like Second Hand clothes you should go to the "Kleidermarkt" at the "Gänsemarkt". At the "Gänsemarkt" you will find nice cinemas, restaurants and shops. In the city you will also find the beautiful city hall and some of the big churches if you like something like that...
-> the "Marktstrasse": It is lying at the underground station U3 "Feldstrasse". There you will find many Second Hand stores, piercing stores and stuff like that. Do not miss the "Kleidermarkt". You can find there also the "Schlachthof" where many parties and concerts take place.
-> the "Turmbar": You will find the "Turmbar" next to the "Dammtor" station. It is my favourit Cocktailbar with really nice Cocktails in a little tower which is fit out like an egyptian pyramid. Check out the "Happy hour" from 7 pm to 8.30 pm. All Cocktails for 10 DM (~3,3 Pounds). Check out the "Banana Daiquiri", "Sex on the Beach" and "Mai Thai". You will love it. ;o)
There are many more things to tell. I can not count them all. But I tell you, Hamburg is a visit worth. Nowhere in Germany you will find more water places, green places and Nightlife. Do not visit Berlin, Berlin is really dirty without so many green and water places. There are so many building sites. But ok Berlin has many more good places to shop and some more famous sights but it is really dirty. But pleace notice that Hamburg is the city with the most millionaires in Europe so almost everything is very expensive. There are many things which are moderate and some things which are very cheap but for example the transport authority or the Nightlife are very expensive, much more than Berlin. But if you want to go to Hamburg do not pass the "Hauptbahnhof" central station. There you will find so many junkies, dealers, crime and dirty people you nowhere can find in Germany. The central station is really dirty. I hate passing there but if you want to see not only the city and you have to go by train there is the best possibility.
So if you come to Hamburg, I wish you much fun and enjoy my lovely hometown. Hopefully I did not make too much mistakes. If I did, please let me know. I know my english is not the best :o)

I love this great review. And I also laugh much. You can´t make Berlin so bad. Nobody else will visit our great capital city. But really I love Hamburg. There is no city, where I love to go shoppingso much. You also have a lot of humour at english. I´m speechless. Have a nice day. Sylvia
