Free minibars and hairy feet at the Holiday Inn
Advantages: High standard of accommodation, good corporate deals Disadvantages: Not very central for tourists
...would be "Where is the Holiday Inn, Hamburg?" and I'm going to have to confess that I'm really none to sure. It's on the banks of the Elbe by the Elbbrukke - I think that's the bridge I could see from the restaurant. It's in a business area which goes dead after 6 in the evening and whilst it's bustling in the day, you would struggle to find somewhere to eat or entertain yourself in the evening. I was put there earlier this week because it's very ... ...~ First Impressions ~
Holiday Inns vary a lot in quality so I wasn't sure what to expect. When you enter the lobby through the large rotating door it's really quite impressive. The lobby is double height with a mezzanine and there's a business centre, the entrance to a bar and lots of leather sofas. There's also a cash machine and a post box, more rattan sofas and chairs in the area just outside the bar and for some bizarre reason - which I think ...

Relax at the Renaissance Hamburg Hotel
Advantages: Great location and friendly welcome Disadvantages: None
The Renaissance Hamburg Hotel is part of the worldwide Marriott chain and offers the excellent accommodations that you would expect from Marriott but with the flair that you would normally expect from the Renaissance team. As with other properties in this brand hotels are branded by Renaissance but owned and managed locally adding real local colour to the hotel. Booking:
Book via the Marriott website, and they guarantee that you will get their cheapest ... ...Rooms:
The rooms at the Renaissance Hotel are decorated in rich red and cream colours, and all rooms feature either one king or two double beds. Rooms are on five floors. Several suites are also available. If you want more space, then book a junior suite, which offers a separate seating area (the rooms are spacious, however). Where I First Came Out Of The Closet
Advantages: Good location, amazing breakfast, nice, spacious rooms Disadvantages: Not a super-dooper extra special place considering its stars
We went to Hamburg earlier this month for a bit of sightseeing and a lot of Christmas shopping. Since the flights were so cheap (barely a fiver before tax) we decided to semi-splurge on a hotel, and ended up at the Radisson. First impressions were good – we got in a cab and the driver knew where it was from the name, no address needed. We took the escalator up from the taxi rank to the glistening first floor lobby and immediately realised we were ... ...business and not so business people, all puffing away on their 6 cent cigarettes. But when we checked in (easily and quickly thanks to prebooking with expedia) and received our keys, it became apparent that we were on a no smoking floor, so things were looking up. So were we as we made our way to the lifts, in a vestibule adorned with mirror covered ceilings. If they’d been any less expensive looking you might have mistaken it for the set of a cheap ...

Brilliant for a weekend getaway to Hamburg
Advantages: Helpful staff, spacious rooms Disadvantages: The artist designed room seemed a little dark
...decided to stay in the Best Western St Raphael. Location: The hotel is only a few minutes away from the main train station (and U-bahn stops - Hauptbahnhof Nord and Hauptbahnhof Sued) and also the bus station so if you fly into Luebeck then you're only a few minutes from your bus to or from the airport which is especially handy as the flights often arrive or depart early or late at night. The Alster and town centre are only a walk away too! Rooms: ... ...lot spoke English which in Hamburg seems to be relatively unusual. Although people say that everyone will be able to speak English, that doesn't seem to apply in Hamburg and a basic understanding of German can be unbelievably helpful, but there weren't any problems in the Best Western St Raphael. ...
