Reef View Hotel, Hamilton Island,

Advantages: Truly magnificent views of Whitsundays. Handy base for exploring other islands by ferry.
Disadvantages: Could be considered impersonal - high rise resort style holiday.

Reef View hotel, Hamilton Island offers magnificent views of the Whitsundays. Travellers tip is to stay on the upper floors - These are the Coral sea rooms it's much quieter, and the views are better. It's worth paying a little more to do this. Lower floors - known as Garden View - (especially near the night club/bar) tend to be a bit noisy from my experience. MY EXPERIENCE AT REEF VIEW I stayed here earlier this year (2008), found the rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. I paid $290 (Australian) per night toom rate (approx 118 pounds) - a rate which included full buffet breakfast daily. They also gave me a free day cruise out to the Barrier Reef which was a highlight. Also had full use of all resort facilities, non-motorised watersports, catamarans etc. Worthy of note - be careful of stingers (venemous jellyfish) at certain ...

The Hamilton Hotel

Advantages: Good location, nice, friendly, family run hotel
Disadvantages: None to speak of

My wife and I spent from 19/10/07 - 21/10/07 at the Hamilton to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and both enjoyed our stay finding the staff always to be friendly, helpful and most of all approachable. The hotel is going through a transitional change with the bar/relaxing and resteraunt areas already completed to a higher modern standard. I am sure when the rooms go through as the next stage they will be to the same standard, although in fairness we where more than happy with the cleanliness and standard of our accommodation providing us with all we needed for our stay. To conclude they made our stay a happy one and we would have no hesitation in returning in the future. ...

BEST HOTEL LEISURE CLUB IN AREA

Advantages: Brilliant unbeatable leisure club, clean and at reasonable cost
Disadvantages: Hotel food average, Chistmas parties a disappointing rip off

I have been a member of the health club for 3 years now, and my review will be primarily about this. The hotel was built just over 3 years ago and is part of the De Vere Group. The leisure club is in the basement of the hotel...I say basement , it is actually on the ground floor, but the entrance to the hotel which you have to go through is on the level above, so you have to go up steps/ramp from the very large roomy carpark and them back down again. It did originally have a cafe copra, but this was shut and replaced by a second exercise studio, the ggod news is as of august 2008 they have opened a Starbucks which members get 20% discount at.The cost of membership is obviously different dependant on peak and off peak , there is not a family discount but you can attach children to membership for £10 a month, (7.50 at the Dudley branch ...
